Display Portfolio case scratching your Xoom?

Bought my Xoom with the Motorola Display Portfolio case on the 4th of March.  I have babied this thing.  I am only developing apps with it, I do not carry it around.  Heck, I even left the original screen protector in place until my Zagg shipment arrives.  Check out the scratches from the Morotola case in the link below (please look at both pictures, and definitely use the zoom - the first is a slight scratch that is hard to see).

I took the case and Xoom by the Verizon store today.  They refunded my case purchase, but would not do anything about the Xoom itself.  They said it was cosmetic damage and that there was nothing they could do unless Motorola issued some sort of statement about problems with the case.  The Verizon employees (sales rep, and the store manager) even agreed that the damage was caused by the case.

I have a problem with the thing scratching the sides... popping the case out of the bottom eventually wore off the left tab, and now its all loose. Kind of short sighted.

I'll look for a replacement for this case, but honestly? The build quality is there, the functionality, the feel. With the case I don't feel like I'm handling something ultra fragile. I just need something that doesn't need to be clipped / unclipped every time, taking a piece of the device with it.

And blocking the HDMI/power/etc when closed is just bad design. Cut a hole out of the factory or something, Motorola.

I just grabbed my Xacto knife and shaved the tabs off the bottom clasps, much better. Now I need to find a hole punch or a leather punch to pop a clean hole where the charger plugs in so can charge it when covered and not having to dock it. The design should also have moved that notch on the top flap where it closes to the center and made it deeper. When the Xoom is folded from the easel position down flat you could plug in the power, USB, and HDMI while the cover is open and folded to the bottom of the Xoom.

I am no longer a Xoom owner.  Verizon would not exchange/repair my unit, despite admitting that the case damaged the unit.  I don't want to own a product where the finish is going to keep coming off due to the damage started by a protective case that came from the same manufacturer.  I was using this as a test case for going back to Verizon, so I be sticking with AT&T.  They have treated me much better.

If I liked the Xoom, I would keep it and ditch the case.

@rnbarrett I don't blame you. Fortunately I didn't get the case, so all of the scratches on mine are actually mine (and yes, there are some).
I'd be very upset if I purchased the Factory case that scratched my device.
in the end it's. A matter of priorities. I won't argue with yours.
