I have a moto G play 2021 that I bought in the USA from my verizon account. Will the phone work in Canada with a travel pass?
I went to the Verizon trip planner and checked it before I went to Costa Rica recently and the planner said it would work. It didnt. I had to call Verizon (in country) to find out the phone wasn't compatible.
I would like to avoid a repeat of this situation. The Trip planner says the phone will work in Canada but I dont have confidence that this is correct based on my last use of this feature.

Hello, Jopott2023, I'm very sorry you ran into an issue with using your Moto G Play when traveling to Costa Rica previously. This particular model is not a world device so it is unable to connect to GSM networks in South America and Europe, etc. The good news is many carriers in Canada do support LTE so you will likely be able to use your phone for this trip. Be sure to enable Data Roaming in your Settings prior to leaving: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-237679/.
If you continue to travel internationally in the future, we can definitely help review your upgrade options to ensure that you have a phone that can be used worldwide. Most devices now are world devices that can be used anywhere with TravelPass or the monthly plan (depending on the length of your trip).

Thank you. For Canada would I still need to activate Travel Pass?

Most of our plans have Canada and Mexico included. We recommend using the Travel Pass to verify if you're on a plan with included service. If it's included, you would get unlimited talk and text with 2 GB of high-speed internet. After those 2 GBs, data would slow down, but it would remain free.
