Download manager has stopped working

My download manager on Maxx has seem to have gone on vacation and doesn't want to work again.

I can no longer download pdfs that I was able to before - I get the messages "Failed to add downloaded item to download manager.".

Other times I get the message "Failed to Start Download".

Can someone help please? I have had this phone for over a year - probably longer - and this just started to happen the past couple days.

Christine2015 I understand the Download Manager app is essential when working with files. Together we can get it working again (no more vacation). Please go to settings > apps > at the top select all > select Download Manager > enable it. Keep me posted.
