Is there a shortcut to enable/disable do not disturb? I find phone often ends of in do not disturb and I'm unsure how this is happening? Also, is there a short cut in lowering volume?

If you swipe down from the status bar (swipe down with finger from very top edge of screen down when on main menu) it brings up the "do not disturb" on/off toggle that looks like a circle with a dash inside of it with a diagonal slash through it.
You can also re-arrange these "tiles" by touching on edit once you expand these status bar notifications/quick settings options.
As far as a shortcut to the volumes, if you press volume keys when on the main home-screen you can change these quite quickly with access to sliders for media, ringtones, notifications etc...
