How do I save custom ringtones?

How?  I connected to my pc, copied and pasted to ringtones folder of my phone and they do not display in the list.  They are in .m4r format.  Thanks

m4r will not be seen by any Android device. You need to covert them to mp3 like above. I believe they can be mp3, ACC, 3gp, Ogg, and one other format. I generally keep them all mp3 for simplicity.

you could also try changing .m4r to .m4a.

I know that.  That is why I said rename it to .m4a which can be seen by some android phones.

They should be in the media folder with a ring tones sub folder
