I just got droid Turbo. The salesperson did a migrate, but apparently my music did not transfer over.
I have enabled USB debugging and downloaded the Motorola Device manager.
When I plug in the USB cable, the phone can be recognized as a camera but not not as a media device.
How do I get my XP computer to see my phone as a media device?
Thanks

I just figured it out, On your phone go to settings, tap storage, then tap on the right by 3 dots, tap usb computer connection, there will be media device and camera. check only media device. Now on the pc it will be media, then click and drag to Music folder!

dragstk,
Let's get those music onto your device. Try following these steps... http://vz.to/1ykXftH If that does not work please make sure there are no conflicts with the drives http://vz.to/1xRk9pI

Thank you for the reply.
I had already installed the Motorola Device manager. I have since
uninstalled it and reinstalled it a couple of times. It appears to do
nothing.
In Device manager, there is a question mark on the MTP, but any search I
have done don't show any drivers installed. So the drivers cannot be
updated.
When I plug in my phone as a camera, it is recognized, but I can only
download pictures off the camera. I cannot add to the camera.
If I plug the phone in as a media device, it is not recognized at all.
I have tried to update the phone, looking for any updates, but nothing
there. Since XP is no longer supported, there are no updates for this
operating system.
Any other options would be appreciated.
Thanks

I appreciate you trying those steps, dragstk. There is a different option that you can use to transfer your files from your previous phone to your Turbo. Compatibility does depend on what your previous device was. You can view steps here: http://vz.to/126XoGf

I hate to be pessimistic about this, but this isn't going to work either.
When I got the Droid Turbo, I traded in my Droid Razr. So I don't have the
old phone. The salesperson did the migration. Things like text, I didn't
expect to go, but did. I was surprised when my music didn’t transfer.
But the real issue now is the fact that I cannot get my computer to
recognise the phone. And the fact that I cannot add pics or music, from my
computer.
Are there Linux drivers available?
Thanks for your efforts

dragstk We absolutely want to make sure your computer can recognize your device. Since you have tried the steps provided, the next step is to speak with Motorola directly for their advanced technical support regarding additional drivers etc. 800-734-5870

I am having the same problem. Even though my computer recognizes the turbo, when I download music (or copy and paste albums) from my pc to the turbo, the albums do not show in google play music. I spoke with Motorola and they are supposed to get back with me. I am very disappointed.

Same problem with me as bakerdmw. My computer recognizes the phone & I can access the files but when I copy and paste albums from my pc to the phone, the album artwork does not show in Google Play music or Amazon. Looked around the web & stumbled into this thread. Also it says I might not be able to play what I'm pasting even though they are non-drm .mp3 files.

I don't want to sound mean, but it's a shame that those who sell this phone don't know how to transfer music to it from a previous phone.
I got my Turbo in November and I thought I would just slide my music files from my computer to the phone, just like I did with my previous Droids, but Google had different ideas. I fought with it for days. Then I did some researching and found out that Google changed the music player app. You need to go to support.google.com and download "Music Manger" on to your computer. Then load your music on to that which will load it into your Google account. When finished open the Google music player on your phone. You have the choice of playing the music from the cloud or you can download any or all of your music directly onto your phone's memory. I use the cloud for absolutely nothing, so I downloaded all of my music to my phone. Luckily I have unlimited data as I used several GBs to do that, so use wifi if you don't have unlimited data.
I spent a lot of time looking for converters and apps but was not happy with what I found. I also have very few apps on my phone so I wanted to use the stock player. The Turbo manual doesn't explain this and neither the Verizon or Motorola forums had the answer either.
After all of my toil and aggravation, I wanted to write this to help others.
Good luck.
