Well I did see this Video provided by Motorola showing it in the Rain, I'm guessing it would be ok if it got some sprinkles on it but to me if you have a Good Case like a Pelican it will protect it in Rainy situations just make sure the phone fits safely in the box and if there's any extra space setting it on top or between a hanky will help soak up the extra space..

It's resistant not proof. Moto X and Nexus 6 are also resistant as well.

The GS5 and Xperia Z line
GS5 can't handle water pressure though.
The Z line can take water jet pressure and submerge down to 10M.
