Will there ever be an update to Lollipop on the Moto X 1st Generation? If so, are there any official release dates for Lollipop on the 1st Gen Moto X?

It means, "As soon as Verizon clears it for Verizon's network." That's the basic idea.
So essentially Verizon has to give the "Ok" before any update happens. I see, thanks! Snn5
Well, most Google-Manufacturer-Carrier relationships are 3 part relationships. This one is almost all inclusive since Google was handling Motorola at one time and Verizon was selling exclusive Motorola devices at one time. (still do)
There is a small update http://www.droid-life.com/2015/05/29/verizons-moto-x-1st-gen-has-a-soak-test-incoming-lollipop/ available now. While not Lollipop, it might be an update that paves the way for the full update later when it is finally released.
