Can you please advise as to when the Droid Trubo will be receiving the Marshmallow update? The last update was in October on Lollipop. This lag in pushing out updates for the Motorola phones is getting old. Motorola has said the update is complete pending partner approval. So, what's the hold up????

Ask Motorola.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I'd love to know the answer to this question as well....I've already spoken to Verizon support about this and quite frankly they were clueless as to if/when the Original Droid Turbo would be receiving the update to Marshmallow. The Droid Turbo 2 began receiving their update last month and now the Droid Maxx 2 has started receiving theirs as well.
Hereโs a pro tip on a Wednesday โ stop buying Motorola and Verizonโs exclusive DROID phones if you care at all about software updates or security. I say that because Motorola and Verizon donโt seem to care about keeping them up-to-date, even as Google and the rest of the Android industry are at least doing their best to provide timely security patches. Not only are owners of these phones missing out on new features, but they are susceptible to non-patched security vulnerabilities that most phones are protected from.
In fact, it's gotten so bad that the Federal Government is stepping in!!! Feds Want To Know Why Android Updates Are So Slow

Actually they are looking into it to find out how much time their found exploits tend to last. See Apple and the whole FBI privacy thing going on.
Also they are trying to show they care about consumers... Notice the timing? Election period... FBI, privacy, and exploits?

That may very well be true but that doesn't explain why Verizon has chosen to completely ignore any and all security updates for Android devices that Google releases on a monthly basis.... To say nothing of the fact that we're still waiting on that Marshmallow update in May of 2016 even though it's been out since October of 2015.

The problem... Motorola was sold off again. This isn't the first time. Google did the EXACT same thing when they purchased Motorola. They themselves dropped support, and not Verizon. Verizon unlike popular belief do not touch code like people percieve them to. If the manufacturer doesn't make the update then it isn't happening at all. Lenovo laid off a lot of Motorola workers so don't expect quick turnaround.

Various devices around the world even ones you may consider previous flagships just started getting updates this month to marshmallow or still waiting to get them...
Of course manufacturers are not going to put a lot of resources into devices that will not produce then more money than their current devices and future devices.

And various devices around the world also started receiving their updates as early as October and November of 2015....we're smack dab in the middle of 2016 and Verizon HAS NO IDEA when the Marshmallow update for the Droid Turbo is coming.....not even an estimate? And this of course says nothing of my other question as to why Verizon doesn't feel the need to incorporate the monthly security updates that Google releases for Android devices.
I could care less what Sprint, At&t or anybody else does with regards to their phones, I write a check out to Verizon each and every month and if they think that simply having the best network will somehow suffice for lackluster support after the sale then they're sorely mistaken.

The problem. You think Verizon has to give it to you when in fact it has always been up to the manufacturer and however long it takes them. You see other devices from their products get them and think they are the same or you should get it just as fast.
Sadly to say Motorola doesn't have the resources like they used to. Just look at Motorola warranty troubles.

So i guess the moral of the story here is to avoid any and all Motorola devices from here forth, especially the "Verizon Exclusive" ones that are touted as flagships to avoid absolutely pathetic support after the sale.

I think the saddest part of thiswhole ordeal is that Verizon has pretty much been silent on this whole issue...i mean, they have an exclusive Motorola-branded phone that they hype for sale and yet when it comes to even basic security updates, not to mention updates to the operating system, they act as if their hands are tied and Motorola is pulling all the strings...excuse me, but i find that hard to believe.

Of course not but manufacturers admitted this for the past 3 years. Carriers don't touch the code like people and the media spits out. Lenovo downsized Motorola as soon as everything is finalized. If Motorola isn't finished what can Verizon do? Make them work faster? Make them hire more people? So explain what can Verizon do?
Chances are you want them to eat the costs for you to switch, but BBB and the FCC complaints isn't going to help you due to above. You could switch carriers but the same thing will happen one way or another, and they won't give you an "out". You either wait or sell your device and switch to another device.
Your best bet is a Nexus or an iPhone.

I know how important it is to get the latest and greatest updates. As soon as a manufacturer has completed their update, it is then tested thoroughly. This is to prevent customers having issues with an update. The last thing we want is several thousand phones all of sudden becoming inoperable. We do not have a time frame available as the updates are created by the manufacturer. To stay up to date with all available information, here is a great link.

I appreciate the responses and attempts to answer my question, but after looking at the link you provided showing "Verizon Updates" I'm only more upset at this point....looking at comparable phones that came out around the same time as the Turbo, HTC One M8, LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S5, I've noticed they all were updated most recently around February/March and the Droid Turbo last received an update in early October of 2015 with a basic security update. I hate to say it but Verizon/Motorola has dropped the ball big time with this one....According to the Motorola website,
This device will be upgraded to the Android 6 (Marshmallow) release of Android, pending partner support....sounds to me like the delay is on Verizon's end at this point.

That's a generic message. The unlocked unbranded devices when 6.0 came out said the EXACT same thing. Partner support includes parts manufacturers. They need drivers and firmware. I am going to use the Motorola Cliq as an example. Not sure if you can find this information anymore. The biggest delay for that device as said by Motorola was Sharp was taking too long to get them the display drivers. To top it off they never update the message if anything changes. Motorola hasn't had stability for the past 4 years. I have unlocked and unbranded devices from Motorola they dropped support for the Americas market(North and South) since Lenovo finally took over and people were laid off. Shoot this happened when even when Google purchased Motorola and they downsized. Google gave a crappy $100 to upgrade and that didn't help the fact people were still locked into a 2 year contract and had to wait and the offer didn't last long.
As I pointed out earlier carriers don't touch the code. They have to wait for Motorola before they can do any testing.

Just to give everybody a heads-up, i just downloaded a Security Update that looks like it was released today for the Droid Turbo that also includes improvements to call-quality issues....if nothing else i'm thankful for that even if it's not the Marshmallow update like i had hoped.

http://www.droid-life.com/2016/05/13/original-droid-turbo-gets-update-isnt-marshmallow/
And as per the article, the author is pretty much saying that it's up to Verizon as to whether or not they want to push the update to Marshmallow for the original Droid......
I mention that because this phone is supposedly still getting the update to Android M, at least, thatโs what Motorolaโs support page for it says. Well, they arenโt 100% behind it with an accompanying note about it being upgraded โpending partner support.โ In other words, if Verizon doesnโt want to help, they arenโt about to care either.

Go back to the beginning of the thread. That's utter BS because manufacturers already said otherwise and these fandroid sites don't bother listening to them.
Even when Google bought Motorola they themselves did what people like them said Verizon has control over. Google dropped support for nearly ALL their devices not just the Droid line.

Also like I said with the Motorola Cliq. The biggest delay was that the device drivers from Sharp took forever. I wish Motorola hadn't updated and purged a lot of their forums to show you pending partners is more than just carriers.

I think the best bet in the future as it relates to receiving timely updates from phone manufacturers is to go with either the Nexus or Samsung product line as a few people on here have already suggested. While this won't all by itself won't make me switch from Verizon i'll most certainly steer clear of Motorola products in the future and i'll avoid "Verizon Exclusive" phones such as the Droid Turbo like the plague as there's little incentive by the manufacturer to provide much in the way of service for a rather limited-edition device available on only 1 carrier like the MotorolaDroid Turbo....tough lesson learned on my part but one I won't make again.
