I connect my phone to the computer as a camera or as a media device and still can't see or save files.
I can see images but nothing else. When I try to save a file to my phone I get "you can't save here." I'm using Win7 pro. What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to synch my PasswordSafe files and I'm now very worried that I've purchased a phone that won't let me do that.

Thanks tbo, in testing your theory I was able to pinpoint my problem. I
can't save anything to the phone but I can copy and paste files, or drag
and drop. I can create a text file with notepad and if I try to save it
there, it fails. But I can create it elsewhere and move it. With my droid 4
I could treat it as any other drive. I could sync my password files back
and forth at my home and work computers. It never occurred to me that this
would be different and it's not until now that I've tried everything.
I can move files around, I can see some of them. I can't see psafe3 files
created by the phone but the phone and the computer can see the files I
move there. I can open the files but can't change or save them.
So, it will work as storage. It's going to be extremely frustrating
managing my work and home passwords now but I'll manage. I can't save them
to the cloud because my employer doesn't like that.
Thank you very much for the help. I believe I have a handle on what's going
on. I'm not exactly happy but I think I can manage.

Unless they posted in the wrong space, they have a Droid Turbo.

Yeah outside chance for final 4 playoffs. OP have you tried restarting computer? Did these pwsafe files move from computer to your previous phone? If so what model was that?

Yes, it's a turbo. Actually I thought I had put the model in the post
anyway but must have lost it in the cut and paste.
I have restarted and done a cold reboot. The problem did not change. I can
see the jpegs the phone has taken but can't save any type of file to any
directory inside XT1254.
I can see the folders but they're all empty except DCIM/Camera. And I've
saved psafe3 files to that directory using the passwordsafe app on the
phone. The phone can see them. My computer cannot.
So far this looks like the phone is the problem but I'll try anything that
sounds interesting.

What about the companion app-- password safe sync app which uses cloud storage?

I'll try that. But even if it works, it means I've got 64 Gigabytes I can't
easily use.
Does this mean everybody else just plugs this phone into a windows box and
uses it like a jump drive without a problem and this is unique to me?

No being connected as media you should be able to move files/folders like dcim. Is it the other file types that say "can't move here"? Should be just like other androids

Update: I finally remembered I could ask my wife to plug the phone into her computer and she just got the same results.
She is running win7.
