Recently, my Moto Z Force Droid finally received the long promised 8.0 Oreo update. And, like many, many others, Oreo has rendered my Z Force phone basiclly useless due to a ridiculously fast battery drain, even when the phone is sitting idle with the screen off. Just a week or so ago, before the trainwreck that is Android 8, the battery would last in standby mode for days, and would easily last an entire day of my "normal" amount of use. Now, when idle with the screen off the battery drains from 100% to 0 in less than seven hours, and if I actually try to use the phone the battery life drops to under two hours. This is unacceptable. Personally, I think it's time for Lenovo and Verizon to step up and admit they totally messed things up with this update, and either release a downgrade back to Android 7, or, if the rumors are true that the Oreo update did in fact damage these phones, replace all affected Moto Z Force Droids free of charge.

Nope haven't heard anything from VZ or Moto they're both still denying the issue was the update. And if you buy a new phone check out other places like Best buy instead of a VZ store. They have better deals and the phone are cheaper

I don't think getting another Droid based phone will help. I received a new phone from Verizon as mine was insured. Same issues with the new phone. I also researched other phones like Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and users are stating the same issues. I also looked at other carriers just to see if these issues existed elsewhere and all are reporting the same problems. The android users forum also has a number of complaints from different types of phones on the same battery drain. All of them are also giving the same lame directions on how to "fix" it - Not.

That's nonsense. People are getting to the point of litigation and I don't
blame them

So yesterday while taking lunch, I dared unplug my Moto and check email, send a few texts, and check out Facebook. Pretty heavy use right?
I was rewarded with a whole 25 minutes before my battery went from 100% to shutting off.
Looks like less today, as I had to plug in a portable because it dropped from 100 to 70 in 10 minutes, and seems to shut down anywhere it feels like it now.
Still no reply from Verizon directly to me.
Where does thisbstand Verizon? Will you be giving everyone free phones? Is anyone actually working to resolve this issue with the Oreo update / Moto z problem?

Like everyone else, my battery life fell off as soon as we were forced to do this update.
No changes other than the uodate.
I use it like anyone else, phone, text, a few basic apps, none of which were new when the problem staryed.

Sorry to hear that you experienced similar issues with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, MARKAS39. I know you mentioned that your Note 9 continued to experience issues but are you still experiencing the issues right now? Is your software up to date? You can check by going to settings, system updates and check for system update.

Well today looked like it was working better on my lunch break. 15 minutes in and it had "only"dropped to 85%, then suddenly says batter 0% and shut down. Plug in my portable and it's suddenly 68% again within the time it took to plug in and restart, amazing.
How are we coming on a fix or phone replacements Verizon?
If I have to buy a new phone, it will be with a new carrier that has some customer service.
In my area, I've highly recommended verizon/Motorola for the excellent coverage and function of the phone's. I will also no longer be able to do that in good faith if this isn't resolved soon.
Still no direct reply from Verizon to me .....

CapCityCoop,
Let's get to the bottom of your device concern once and for all because I know your time is valuable. Updates are released by the manufacturer, let's dig a little deeper. What specific device issue are you experiencing the update? It sounds like you were offered a warranty replacement. What reservations do you have about receiving a warranty replacement? I will be sending you a Private Message momentarily.

I'm curious. When you see a question, do you see the whole thread? And if so, do you read it before replying? Because, a LOT of the frustration that I have had, is having to repeat myself over and over again. If you can't see the whole thread, then they need to change the way you are presented with the problems. This is a problem that has 14 PAGES of the same complaint with Verizon offering the same solutions over and over that have not worked. It started with the Oreo update. And, from research, I've noticed that, before it was the Z, it was the phones that got Oreo first! When you have a phone that worked great and, suddenly, the next day, is useless due to battery drain (apps crashing, camera shutting the phone down, at 60% power, dropping suddenly to 10% power after powering up again and then jumping back up to 70% within minutes of plugging it in), sometimes more than one phone in a household, AT THE SAME TIME, it's pretty obvious the problem is the update. I finally gave in and started a new payment plan with a new phone which I hadn't intended getting (yes, I was another one who only had 1 payment left on my phone when it bit the dust with an update). I kept my Z in the hopes that you will release a fix, especially since you only offered me $48 trade in value for a phone I have only had for 7 months! Of course it was my 3rd Moto Z...replaced each time due to UPDATES BREAKING THEM!!
Ok...so, now that I have explained why I'm frustrated, I'd really like an acknowledgement from Verizon or Motorola, that this is a software problem with Oreo and they are working on an update. I'm afraid you are losing many customers over this and the only ones that are being offered even a DISCOUNT are the ones who have the time to write a letter like this one or sit on the phone for hours. Tired of the canned responses!
Thanks for reading!

The most my phone will charge go when plugged into the original charger is 42% it randomly shirts of when it had plenty of battery and then suddenly says zero battery. It gets hot when charging. It has had no damage. I've done the trouble shooting. I have the insurance on it but am I going to have to pay $150 to get another phone that is likely going to have the same problem based on all of these posts?

Sorry to hear about the issues with your phone charging and shutting off, josco18. I know exactly how important it is to have a fully operational phone at all times. I'd like to look into this more closely. I have sent a private message which you can view here: http://spr.ly/6586D2ktp

I too after I upgraded to the new os on August 3, had a severe drain on my battery life. I have tried all these recommendations they have put on these posts and see no improvent. I find it odd that my phone worked fine and had incredible battery life up until this new os was installed. My phone is basically useless unless I keep it plugged into the charger. I still owe money on this phone but my back is to the wall and can't function like this, so I will be shopping for another phone that hopefully gives me more than 6 hours charge time. I don't understand when they see so many people having the same issue, that they won't address that it has to do with the upgrade not that something spilled on your phone or that you have a 3rd party app running.
