About a year ago, I updated my Moto Z to version 7 and my battery life went from about 1 week to about one day. With each update, it got worse and worse. However, the latest version 8 update caused extreme battery drain and now my Moto Z battery only lasts about 45 minutes before shutting off at 50-60%. Is there a resolution to this issue yet? This was a great phone for the first few months I had it, but these updates have been killing the functionality. I have been using Droid phones since 2012, but this will absolutely be there last Motorola product I ever buy if there is no prompt resolution. The complete lack of support has been appalling and I almost think my old flip phone from 2008 is more functional than this expensive paperweight.

Mine does the same thing. It was good for a year but now it will randomly shut down and not turn back on, sometimes at 70 or 80 percent battery life. It won't turn back on unless I plug it into a charger. Today it did it at 71 percent only 30 minutes after a full charge. I'm so disappointed in this phone. I loved the turbos but I'll never purchase another Motorola again. If I wanted battery issues I would have bought an iPhone. Reading everyone else's comments on here makes me feel like neither Motorola or Verizon really care about the issue. I'll be saving up to pay this trash off and I'm going to change phones and providers.

Hello, NATEAV41. We want to make sure your battery issues are resolved as soon as possible. The best way to do a diagnostic on your device to check the battery health is to do a Device Health Check. You can do that by following this link, https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-206364/. It should give you more information on what is causing your battery to drain faster.

I did the device health check and everything was fine. I did a factory
reset. I've tried everything you all say to do. I never had this issue
until the latest update. I'd imagine it's just a ploy to get people to buy
more phones.

There has been an obvious problem for many months now. I also have to have my phone plugged in virtually all the time. Absolutely ridiculous that no one has addressed the real issue, i.e. the software update.

mp2001, having a dependable battery is always a must for your device. Different factors can affect the life of a battery. For example, how often you use the device, brightness of the screen, available storage, etc. How quickly does the battery die and when did this first start? Is your software up to date? EricaG_VZW

Have the same problem, I formatted back to factory settings, loaded NO apps and still have the same problem, phone will shuts off at 80% plug it back in and it will show the battery is 2%, wait a few minutes and it will show 60%, turn it back on and it goes dead again. I get about an hour out of a full charge, I've even tried using a slow charge with on older USB adapter. It's not the phone guys the batteries are no good and Motorola won't back there product this is the last Motorola product I will buy. You guys know there is an issue but you won't back it. Not happy!!!!

I would be just as unhappy with the battery draining as fast as it does, masterolds. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. How long have you had your phone? When did this start happening?

Sorry for the delay in response, this phone died 3 times trying to message you. I just paid it off, so 2 years, the problem started a year and 2 months after I got the phone, and no help from the Verizon store, they tried to sell me an iPhone. Lol. I had to buy a Moto mod battery just so I can use the phone, to prove the problem I'm having, I have a screenshot of the battery history after the battery crash, can I send it to you some how? I love this phone other than the battery dies, it's not like I can go to batteries + and pick up a new battery, hope you have a great day.

Hi. I've went as far as deleting every off the phone and reformatted it to factory settings, then loaded NO programs, left it as is from the factory settings to see how long it would last before the battery crashed, the resalts were after about 4 hours battery got down to about 60% it shut off, then showed the battery 0% charge, after being plugged in for 5 minutes it then showed 75% charged, then when I tried taking a picture when the phone was fully charged I got 2 picture the phone did the same thing, one of the reasons I purchased this phone is for the camera, in my line of work I take quite a few pictures of equipment that I need to design modications for. This phone does me no good if I can not use it for this reason. And this happens just about every time I try to use the camera. I'm to the point of going to another provider with no help from Verizon.

Masterolds, we do want to thank you for getting back in contact with us. Since this issue occurred with your battery draining after the update, have you been able to test the charge with a different compatible charger?

Hi.
Yes I have I purchased 2 new chargers and that did not make a difference, I purchased a USB cord and used an older slower charging AC USB charger, that as well did not help the power issue, it is almost like the phone power management doesn't know the state of the battery.

The power management issue would explain part of the problem, but there again the articles I've seen where the battery has been changed solved the problem does explain the power management issue. And why when my Moto mod juice pack battery is fully charged the phone sometime still shuts off, like I've tried every possible way of charging this phone ie. Old slow USB , computer usb , new turbo charger , USB cord and iPhone charger, every one of these attempts there was an "Aha" moment only to find "A nop" that didn't work either.
I believe this OS update damaged the battery and or the phone it's self.

Same thing for me, I got the Droid Z about a year and a half ago. It had the Android Nougat 7.1.1 OS and it worked flawlessly. It automatically updated to Oreo 8 and after that nothing but severe battery drain. I am lucky if I get 45 minutes of use. I stays on until about 60 - 50% and then it shuts off completely, then I have to plug it back in and most of the time I am not near a charger. This phone is a now a $700 piece of junk. I seen other forums complaining about the same issue after an Oreo upgrade. The android techies on those forums all reply with nonsense and act as if it isnt the OS but the users phone. I seriously doubt Verizon will take accountability for it either which is why I will not even say anything. I would like to try and re-install Nougat 7.1.1 but I cant seem to find the Verizon bootloader for it. I called a few of their outlets and they told me that they do not flash phones. I been with them for many years now and I am about ready to switch service providers. Ovferall I do not believe it is the phone itself, but the Oreo 8.0 upgrade, that is when the problem started.
