My Droid Maxx has been rebooting itself constantly every 1-2 minutes for the past 1.5 hours. I have tried starting it in safe mode, but it still resets. It looks like Google Docs is trying to download, but I can't get into the apps to stop the update before it restarts. Any suggestions?

Mine stated at 5 pm EST. The only way I've been able to stop the rebooting is to put it in airplane mode or turn it off before it restarts.

I am having the same issue. I tried Safe Mode too and that didn't help. The phone boots fine if I keep it in airplane mode, but as soon as I connect to the Internet (via cellular or WiFi) it reboots. I get a strange cloud icon with a sad face inside that says its trying to download something but doesn't say what. HELP!

Does anyone else find it odd that all of our phones are doing this at the same time?
Mine started about 3PM today and won't stop. Even if I turn it off, it powers up only to reboot over and over and over.

My phone has been constantly rebooting itself since about 6:00 pm EST tonight. I am on hold with Verizon Tech support now. To add insult to injury, while on hold I'm being treated to bad disco music. No, really, you can't make up this stuff. If Tech Support ever picks up and I get an answer I will post it here.

Just Fyi, I listened to the same music. Verizon can't help you. They will send you to Motorola who will say they are working on the problem. I can't get that 25 min of my life back, but maybe I can save a few for someone else.

I just spoke to Motorola Tech Support. This is a known issue they are working on. In the meantime, you can stop it from rebooting by putting it into airplane mode, though that does of course make it pretty useless as a phone.

You can actually just turn off Wifi and Mobile Data. That way you can at least still call and text whilst this is being fixed.

Thanks for the updates and advice about airplane mode. Really don't want to have to get a new phone.

I went to the Verizon store. They had no clue, but they ended up doing a factory reset. That solved the problem and my phone is working fine now. Good luck to everyone!

I am experiencing this problem, also, going on about 7 or 8 hrs. now. It is just rebooting over and over, I have about 30 secs. To go into settings and put it in airplane mode before it shuts down again. For a little while I only had to turn off wifi, but now it has to be full airplane mode. I hadn't installed any updates or downloaded anything prior to this happening. I do not want to do a factory reset as I have pictures and such on my phone I don't want to lose. My question is, since this is obviously a software issue, how does anyone plan to fix it if the peoplet experiencing the issue can't connect to the Internet for more than 30 seconds at a time? i love my phone and don't want to switch, but this needs fixed ASAP! Some type of statement or comment from Verizon or Motorola would be nice, the customer service here is awful.

I saved my pictures last night by connecting my phone to my computer. The cable will have one prong for a USB and the other prong for your phone. (Okay, this isn't a technical description because I am a flaming Liberal Arts major.) My system is set up to automatically recognize the need to download photos. Perhaps your computer isn't set up that way. There is an alternative solution. If you are using Windows, go into your Start menu and click on "Computer." You should see your phone there and click on a folder labeled DCIM. There will be a separate folder within for your photos. You can open that folder and select which photos you want to save to your computer. Hope this helps!

Justed wanted to chime my 2 cents. Had the same problem. I am surprised social media helped me find and temporarily solve this problem quicker than Motorola or Verizon. The only turning off wifi and mobile data without putting it in airplane mode stopped my Droid Maxx from constantly restarting. Now, at least, I can hopefully use the phone part, but haven't tested it yet.
I too am infuriated that I had to solve my problem with hours of internet perusing with no help from the Verizon tech or Motorola support I spoke with last night. Factory resetting is not an option as other users have mentioned as it is too time consuming and tedious. This appears to be more of a global issue as other, not just Motorola users, seem to be experiencing similar issues as per my hours of internet perusing last night, but yet, I have checked on Motorola and Verizon's website giving no acknowledgement of this mass-wide problem or update! It doesn't matter which vendor is at fault, but please acknowledge, fix it, and make your process transparent.

Been googling during off time at work and it seems this is not just limited to Verizon customers and Motorolas. There are Samsungs and LGs of other companies doing the same thing. Seems suspect that there is some nationwide problem going on...surprised it isn't on CNN yet.

Well add another person who had the problem start around 3 pm EST. For what its worth, put it in airplane, turnoff wifi, turn off data, then take it off airplane mode and it works!

I'm also having the problem. I called Verizon Wireless yesterday evening and was told it was because the network was down, and that I was the 4th call in 30 mins with the problem. Woman said turn off phone to save battery and check periodically to see if fixed.
I called again this morning and was told it's a problem that Verizon and Motorola are working on together, but they didn't know why it was happening, when it would be fixed, or how to let us know when it was fixed.
Verizon said the solution is go into safe mode, turn off data, turn off wi-fi. Problem was the constant power cycling, even in safe mode, didn't give me enough time to do both. I went into safe mode, turned off data, after the next power cycle, went into airplane mode to stop the constant power cycling, turned off wi-fi, went back into safe mode and the power cycling has stopped and I can at least use my phone for calls and texts.
This situation is giant soup sandwich!!!!! And I don't think it's just Verizon - I think there are a ton of Motorola users out there experiencing this.

Was on hold w/ Verizon for an hour last night. Ended up doing a factory reset and everything is working fine now. Never discovered which app was causing the issue, although it seems to be associated with how Motorola interacts with an app(s). The auto backup put everything back on the phone and it's doing fine now.
