My Droid Maxx randomly shutting down. Several times a day and on full battery. Sometimes after using an app or camera, and sometimes it will just be sitting on my desk, Ill go to use it and notice it is off. I have tried hard reset, but nothing seems to work. Anyone else having this issue in the past couple of weeks since last update?

This is a bizarre situation, monkey0927. When did these troubles begin? Has your device incurred any physical or moisture damage? Please provide me with a few more details.

Let's get to the bottom of this issue rbuskill! When did issue start? Did you notice if it started after installing a particular app or software update? What is your phone's software version?

It start around 4-5 months ago. I'm not sure why I would just come back to my phone and it would be shut down and at different times of the day. It did it again this morning and all i did was turn off my alarm and then when I come back to my phone it was off. My system version is 23.3.24.obake-maxx_verizon.Verizon.en.US.

rbuskill,
Let's get this resolved! Please enable safe mode here http://vz.to/14eG5n8 test and share if you are still experiencing the issues. If so, please backup and complete a factory reset here http://vz.to/1xFz0Gq If not, I suggest removing applications in effort to find the root cause. Thank you.

I got my first Maxx in June 2014 and started seeing this problem almost immediately. After a couple of months, and msny calls to support, I was sent a new phone which I have now. It continues to restart randomly, sometimes going a week or two between crashes and sometimes rebooting three or four times in one day. So, I have essentially done a start from new wipe of the phone. My wife's phone, acquired at the same time, has never done this. Is there a system log that will record which processes are running in these crashes happen?

@Boxter
Iโm sorry to hear youโre experiencing this rebooting issue again, even with your replacement! I can imagine how frustrating this has become.
Although we donโt currently have a tool that shows us which system processes are running at the time of the device crash, we do have some internal diagnostic tools that can help us troubleshoot what may be affecting your device performance. However, we would utilize that tool with you over the phone or in a one-on-one private message. Have you had a chance to test your device for some time with it powered up in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1SK73qb to see if the problem persists? Keep me posted.

Does your phone do a complete reboot randomly. Mine shuts off. I found that turning off Auto Update for google apps helps a little. I have a feeling that my issue might be a hardware problem with the cellular antenna and/or the wifi antenna. I've noticed the phone shut off a few times when losing or gaining signal.
When my wife had this same phone, it was shutting down for her constantly. I performed a factory reset and cache wipe.
The phone was on for days without a sim card installed and in wifi. I used apps and data through wifi.
Then I activated a new sim card and logged into my google play account and the problem returned.

Mine has done the same thing since the most recent software update. It is very inconvenient. Loved the phone before this started happening and it is starting to get on my nerves

So far my phone has not shut off on it own but every once in a while the screen will fade away 2 to 3 times then come back and will stay. this happens as mentioned on occasion, but usually after I run a system cache clear this issue seems to go away for awhile then it'll return..
I'm Running the 21.11.21.obake-maxx

Mine does this when google play updates apps, especially snapchat. It will restart several times until the apps update.
I have tried everything, deleting the updates to google play, downloading a second party app of google play...nothing works !
Sick and tired of losing phone calls when this happens.

Loosing calls are no fun you might try running a system cache then pull your Sim Card once the phone has been shut down for a few seconds then re-install it.. hopefully you won't loose anymore calls
