My droid started send duplicate text messages, I am using the stock app. Any help out there

It will randomly send out about the last 10 or 15 messages that were already sent and received so they are getting double messages an hour or so later

The samething recently started with my LG5. I removed/replaced the battery but that didn't correct it. Im also in need of corrective advice.
