Not getting verification codes from other sites

I don't know if Verizon cut out everything on my phone including notification codes, but on some sites that I NEED to get to, they have an option where they send a code to your phone for verification.
Thing is is that the codes aren't showing up. I can't use my data because I'm currently unable to pay my bill but I need access to sites that use this process.
What's going on?
