Phone fails installing OTA update to KitKat, why?

I have a RAZR MAXX HD that has been bugging me to do the OTA update for weeks. when it tries to do the update it fails (Droid down after reboot)

So I figured I'd just do a factory reset on the phone and it should work. Nope, same problem, so after pointlessly wiping my phone, my update still fails, and still bugs me to do it.  Any suggestions? I could try loading the update from the SD card, but it's just the same file trying to do the same update...

Well, here's what I had to do to get the update.

(I always recommend a factory reset for large updates)

Downloaded the rom from motorola VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml.zip

uncompressed it and ran RSDScriptGenerator.jar

Installed RSDLite 6.1.6

Loaded in recovery mode and reset phone.

Switched to fastboot mode and connected to my computer

flashed the script with RSD

Probably not the easiest or recommended method to get the OTA update. but this is what I had to do to get it.

On the plus side, my battery life improved. Not sure if it was from the factory reset or update though.  Anyone needing to follow my route can google "How To:XT926 Upgrade to KitKat OTA"

Zip: 46514  Have tried the update over both data and wifi networks.

Starting with a full factory reset.

System Version 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US

Android Version 4.1.2

Baseband version VANQUISH_BP_100730.151.64.17P

Kernel version 3.0.31-gef7deb8

Build number 9.8.1Q-94

Update downloads, verifies and reboots to begin the update. I get the update droid for about 30% and then droid down, reboot and failure message.
