My wife has the MAXX, and she will be texting along. She will send a text to someone, and right after she sends it, it takes the last word of the text she just sent, and puts it down in the line to start another text. She has to wipe that word out to send another message. It happens with any length texts, and to almost any contact she sends to. It does not happen alot, maybe once or twice a day. Not a major problem, more of an "inconvenience". I have wiped the cache data of the texting app, and I have wiped the OS cache by doing the process. She is running ICS, and started after her upgrade.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? It is not worth doing a Factory Reset over, it is basically the only issue she is having with the phone.

It happens with any length texts
As I said in my original post, it can be any length text messages, it happens when she sends only 2 words... And it is not a matter of it splitting the text, it takes the last word sent and puts it into the line as if it was going to start a new text.
Did she try clearing the cache for the messaging app? She doesn't have to clear data just the cache.
Edit I seen you already done that. I read the OP a few times. Did you check Motorola forums?

Yes, we cleared the cache of the app.

Yah I saw that. Checking Motorola forums right now to see if it is a remote issue.
Went down around 5 pages and so far no one has posted about the problem your wife is having. I would be annoyed as well having text like that. Did you try going into safe mode then deleting cache?

I haven't yet taken the phone into Safe Mode to see if it is an app or something else. Been waiting to see if there was something anyone else has seen. I will try that today. The problem is something that I cannot recreate with any certainty, so just rebooting it into safe mode, it may have to stay there for a while for it to work/not work.
Well if you go into safe mode, and it is gone then you know it has to be a specific app problem as it only load essentials in safe mode.

Correct, but as I said in my original post, it may only happen once or twice a day at most, so if it does not do the word thing, is it because of the app not running, or it is just not doing it? That will be the tough part...
Have you tried running a logcat to see what happens when it does popup? See what it shows.
Tidbits when i tested it mine: i sent (Test) 1. , then i sent (Test Message) 2., and it Worked but i stop for a While as we had a Severe Lightning Storm Come Threw Round 2 on its way Man i never see so Much Cloud to Ground and Close it was Doing some Shaken.!

I also have the MAXX running ICS, but I haven't run across this problem that your wife is having. Does she have a texting app installed from the Play Store?

Running it in safe Mode didn't change it at all.. the only thing i could Make work is When i Changed to a different Keyboard) Like Swype, or one from the Market -- Play-Store.. i'v have Smart Keyboard Pro as my alternative.. and it and Swype work perfectly Why the Normal Google one or Motorola one What ever there Calling it Doesn't work is Beyond Me..
It works perfectly when using it for Email & Text Messaging but when i try to Use it for the Web that's when i have the Issue. and i have tried everything Short of Doing a F.D.R and nothing has Worked..
I have the same problem with the last word of text showing up in the next field. Tried all of the above. Sometimes it doesn't carry over last word. Most times it does. The lastest problem with texting is that is says message sent. But empty window is sent. Is it problem with this one particular phone? or texting problem?

I was away on vacation for the last 4 days, and while my wife's phone had the problem, it just started happening on mine also. It has only happened once, but it is starting. Not sure of the issue. To Tamara, no, we do not use any other app for texting other than the built in app. It seems to happen most of the time to people who we text alot, and are at the 200 text limit to show. Although, it happened to my wife to someone that was not at the 200 limit.
I have a Galaxy S23 Ultra and I am having the same issue where the last word will appear or carry over to the new text. But it doesn't happen all the time. What I have noticed is that it happens when I text fast trying to give my teenager instructions and need an answer asap. It does not happen If I send the text and wait like 5 to 6 seconds and give it time to like "breathe" or touch the screen and the keyboard disappears then touch the keyboard and start the text. Then the last word does not carry over to the new text. But there are just times that I can't wait that long to start the next text. lol. But it is frustrating.

I have the exact issue most the time when using swype, it carries over the last word everytime... very frustrating!
You might giving a try: A third party Key Board app instead.. i use Smart Key Board app and it has done a pretty good Job and Wildman recommended it To me back a Few months ago he liked it allot..
