Upgraded to 4.4.2 and 2014 Nissan Altima will not recognize smartphone. Bluetooth connects, but not apps (pandora, etc.)

Bluetooth connects for phone and detects text messages.  When I try to launch Pandora or Google, a message saying that a smartphone is not connected pops up.  I tried unpairing and re-pairing with no luck. ????

I'm sorry your bluetooth is not pairing with your phone MIke1977. Have you tried contacting your car manufacture. You can also try updating the Pandora application because it may not be compatible with the new software on your phone.
