Verizon messaging thumbnails

When I go to send an MMS message to someone, the thumbnails above the keyboard are broken. Only a select few downloaded pics show. Any taken from the camera show as a broken link. I'm using the Moto z force with the newest update on both the phone and Verizon messaging and made sure there is no third party gallery apps. I have installed and reinstalled all updates on messaging. The phone has been restarted several times after each troubleshooting step. It started after the newest update with the editing update in app. Please help.
