Did have a conversation with Motorola and they did VERIFY The UPDATE is in VERIZONS hands. They cannot say
what the hold up is. So, question for Verizon, just WHAT is the holdup? WHY are YOU abandoning the Droid Turbo?
Seriously, trying to lose customers? Even the LgG3 is receiving lollipop, Galaxy S4 received lollipop, Galaxy S5 received.
Think a lot of customers would like answers, and not a link to your NEWS page.

How far up the chain did you go? Is it 5.1? Or 5.1.1? If it's a low level rep or even a CSR manager they will not know and can't verify anything.

Do you work for Sprint? T-Mobile? AT&T? If I worked for Verizon do you think I would ask you those questions? I am pointing out the facts at the end. No low level rep will ever know.

For one, I promised NOT to mention his name. 2. The Turbo WAS TO GET 5.1 Verizon is REALLY becoming a HORRID company. I wish I did work for AT&T, wouldn't be putting up with this crap of Verizon and abandoning phones. As soon as this OLD Droid Turbo gets paid down I WILL BE LEAVING Motorola phones AND VERIZON WIRELESS for ignoring their customers and questions. Incompetent company now, wonder what happened to them. SMH

Well that's convenient. You know good luck on your next device and your new carrier. You'll complain about the same thing there. Might as well get a basic phone if it's about the principle of things.

Should have stayed with Samsung (no problems there) and AT&T (now find they're better customer service). And I love how some people just are brown nosers for VW. SMH If certain people can't answer a question, they should mine their own business.

The S4 was the most trouble free phone I've owned and the updates were timely, as I recall. Based on Motorola's past performance, I expect to see a new droid released before we see an update. Hopefully, they'll prove me wrong.

This is my second Motorola and most likely my last. Same old song and dance...and I never did like the tune. Probably cost me several hundred bucks to leave Verizon, but at this point I no longer care.
My wife has had iphones for a number of years and I can't recall her ever having an issue. I wish they had bigger batteries and allowed more customization. My previous phone was a Samsung and served me well.

What sort of particular features are you looking to gain out of 5.1 your phone doesn't currently have? Your posts seem to indicate a heavy amount of frustration toward both Verizon and Motorola, and I'm curious what 5.1 has to offer that would make you feel this way.
My calls are stable, my data is fast, and the network in my area is pretty solid. Those are the three most important factors to me when I select a phone and a carrier; the rest is just a bonus. So I try to pick my battles and decide if my complaints are reasonable or not.
My point is your opinion (which of course you're entitled to) is fairly unreasonable unless you can convince me what it is about 5.1 that justifies your need for the update. Similar to others on this board; I'd rather be patient, let the folks at Motorola and Verizon do their work, and receive a stable update vs. one that could potentially wreck my phone just to say I'm running the latest version Android.

That's great...if that's all you're looking for. Phone calls are third or fourth priority, to me. I take issue with apps installed by the carrier that don't work properly on the original OS. Most recently, the carrier supplier text app put my phone in a tailspin. So far, it's happened only once, but several apps I want to use I don't dare install (no third party, all Google).
So...if I can't do what I need/want with KK, what do I have to lose with LP? Looking at the site linked by a Verizon rep in post nine, I see the most recent update was 23 February, more than 80 days ago. New phones are are released every 12 months and we're looking at three months without an update to the update that was promised six months ago.

1. The phone overheats to the max. Last time I used Google maps, just recent, went up to 139 F. 2. Outside, on a warm day, not in sun, phone temp goes to 112 without using it. 3. 1/2 the calls still go to voicemail and phone does not ring at all. Disabling AC makes calling out worse. 4. VW said take it to store, I did, of course, they're not using google maps, store is ac and it doesn't overheat for them. So, they cannot duplicate the problems. As such, I am stuck with a crappy phone. I was hoping the 5.1 would fix problems with this phone.

Perhaps you should go back then? I've had several devices with both AT&T (work) as well as Verizon (personal), and from my experience I have always had better luck with my Verizon devices as well as better luck with their network/service. This, keeping in mind, that I do disable all the Verizon apps that get pre-installed on their non Nexus devices. I'm not stating this because I am a Verizon brown noser as you call it, I am stating this based on my experience with both companies for the past 10 years. You're on an internet forum, so people are going to provide their opinion based on your comments whether you agree with them or not. What else did you expect?

As I've said on other threads which you may or may not have seen, I know a few folks including myself, with the Droid Turbo and no one seems to have the same issues you mention. We are all pretty heavy users; we all do more than basic calling, text messaging and the likes. I have many apps on my phone, use GPS, etc etc, and all works well. The only issue ive ever had with my device was calls going straight to voice mail after the VoLTE update, but that was corrected for me with the last update that was released.
Based on the above, i would suggest backing up your data, performing a factory reset, restore your data, disabling all apps you do not use, then attempt to reproduce the issues. If you cant reproduce them in the store, what would you expect Verizon to do for you? You can prove it in other ways, video your situation if needed. Like anything in life, if you want to correct something sometimes you just have to work a little harder to prove it and there are many opportunities to do so. Coming onto an Internet board and constantly complaining about your issues, or problems you're having with Motorola and Verizon is going to get you no where. If you're coming here looking for solutions, that's a different story, but I mainly see you complaining about Verizon and Motorola. Is it getting you anywhere?
Good luck with you phone.

Google sent out the 5.1 update on March 9, 2015. While it's an increment and not a major overhaul like 5.0. It still needs to be tested, first by the OEMs (the cellphone manufacturers), and once the OEMs are satisfied, then they (the OEMs) send out the update. Once the OEMs send out the update, then and only, will the ball be in the carriers court. In this case; Verizon/VZW
Here's an article quoting a post by a software engineer at Motorola.
