Amazon has a new app....the old app is still on the phone but since it's one of those built in apps I can't uninstall it. Is disable the only thing I can do or will verizon eventually remove it. Built in apps are one of the biggest pains with smart phones.

You can only disable it. Verizon never removed SoftCard after Google bought SC either. It will most likely remain indefinitely.

Also uncheck show notifications so it won't bother you with updates.

If it is disabled, it won't show notifications any longer.

If show notifications is checked it will ask you if you want to update even if it is disabled.

Strange: Never had a disabled app ever ask me to update...since it's disabled and doesn't actually work. In fact, the Play Store won't even find updates for your disabled apps.
