emails disabled/storage low?

my droid is giving me the following message "storage sace is getting low. sending has been disabled" and wont let me send email

Is the phone storage low? Have you cleared the phone cache for the applications? Tried removing the email address from the phone and adding it again? Sometimes that clears the local held information from the phone.
