existing customer free phone (Moto Z Play) not being honored?

Did anyone as an existing customer see an offer for a free phone (Moto Z Play) around November December? I went through the shopping cart after being logged on and offered the phone for free. I Added the phone and it even said No Trade-In Required and only needs phone activation. Now Verizon can't seem to tell that I was offered that promotion online, So I am trying to see if anyone else had that offer or is going through something similar that can provide some advice. I have Verizon doing some research also.

DAWGFR81, it's our goal to make sure that you always have a positive experience with us on our network. I'm sorry to hear that this didn't recently happen for you when upgrading to a new phone. We want to make sure that you subscribe to the best plan available and take advantage of any great promotions at that time. When taking advantage of a free device offer, you are required to trade in a device that is in good working condition. You mentioned that you lost your previous phone. As a result, I apologize. You would not qualify for that promotion.

There is a one time upgrade fee of $30.00 when upgrading to a new phone. You have access to Verizon Cloud, online website support, and in store wireless workshops. This is everything that you need to ensure that you have the best experience possible on your phone. This fee helps us cover the cost of providing these services to you. Additionally, you have 30 days to add insurance to your device: http://vz.to/1xPDUon

Lastly, I apologize for any misinformation or confusion. We don't have the ability to change your plan when you're on One Bill. As a result, you would have to contact our One Bill customer service team directly when requesting to move to a new Verizon Plan. At the time of purchase, you are provided with a detailed subscription of your plan, the contractual agreement for your device upgrade and tablet purchase. Did you review those documents? As a reflection of our commitment to you, we also e-mail and mail you a letter confirmation, as well. I hope that this information addresses your concerns. We'd like to uplift this feedback to those store locations. Which store did you visit? http://vz.to/1BnlKZ1

jds41979,  we can understand wanting to take advantage of such a special offer.  We are here to provide support.  Can you tell us if you already have the phone or are you looking to upgrade today?

Yes, I have the phone. It was purchased online. I logged on and added to my cart when it offered $0/mo. The purchase also stated No Trade-In required. It also didn't state: for new lines/activation or Excludes Upgrades.

Most of the deals during that time that had the "free" phone was requiring a trade in and a new line of service either by porting in a number or adding a new line to the existing account.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

It was also bill credits that zeroed out the phone cost and started 2 to 3 billing cycles after the purchase.

I joined Verizon and chose that phone because of the deal. I signed a contract stating it would be free for joining. I even ported my old phone number over and I'm getting the wrong promo. Instead of the $17 credit that I agreed to, I'm getting $7 off.

That would definitely be upsetting. May we ask if the upgrade was done in store, online, or over the phone? KleoL_VZW

I had not done an upgrade. It was a deal for joining Verizon.

I also did this purchase online. It's concerning that my bill doesn't list the exact promotional credit that I am receiving, not just that I will be getting one. It isn't my fault that it took two weeks for my phone to get delivered and the fact that I signed the contract in December should mean that I get the promotion I signed up for, not just what was offered in January when I finally got my phone.

I have the same issue.  I bought the phone Dec 21st,  It was promotedas $15 per month ($360) and $100 total price with trade in.  I paid off the balance of my current phone and the bill credit I am currently receiving is the trade in credit, not the $15 per month that was supposed to make the phone half off.  I called and spoke to someone that said they were fixing it.  That was a month ago and still no credit for the promo is showing.  POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

What do you mean you "signed the contract in December".  When did this promotion end?

You should have purchased during the promotional period and agreed to device payments, which is not a contract (that refers to the previous discounted 2 year contracts).

Was the promotion limited to available stock?

My concern is not exactly the same as what happened in the original post.

The only reason I commented on this one was because it was the closest post

to my own situation and I saw that support was already commenting on it.

I just joined Verizon in December so I did agree to the contract at that

time. The promotion during December was that you get a free Moto Z when you

join the network. But I actually received the phone in the mail in January,

at which point the promotion was $7 off. So, what Verizon is trying to do

is give me the January promotion even though I agreed to/purchased the

phone/contract in December.

The problem with that story is new customers joining VZW at that point would have had to select the New Verizon Plan and the contract pricing option hasn't been available for those plans since they were announced. You would have been required to purchase a new phone at the full retail price or through the device payment agreement spreading the cost of the phone over 24 months.

I don't know how else to explain this. In a single transaction in December,

I signed up for VZW and agreed to a 24 month payment plan for the Moto Z

with the agreement that a $17 credit would be applied to my bill starting

on month 3. This was all on the receipt before and after I put in my credit

card information.

That's a DPP agreement not a service contract.

If I just joined the network, how is that not signing a servoc contract?

A service contract has an ETF. The device payment plan (DPP) agreement only requires you to pay for the full remaining balance of the device. You can leave at any time.

I have the same problem, I purchases 2 of the moto z play phones with the same promotion, on 11/26/2016, I was told I would be rebated ea mmoth the cost of the phones. i have been a customer of MA Bell for over 40 years and i have never had this much trouble getting a problem resolved. I have spoken to Gina,Ben 6/18, Terrel,Pat 8/4 and they have all tried to help with no results. I am currently owed $204 , I have been credited for 2 months when I call and raise a fuss and , I am told it will be fixed. I just spent 2 hours on the phone with Cust Svce Rep Pat, and was disconnected , he texted me and said I should try here as he was not having any luck resolving this problem. I am starting to look for another carrier for our next 4 phones as I am getting very fed up . Nice reps, no power to make changes.

Rule one of any promotion these days is save the proof.  its your only recourse when credits are not made and the carrier has forgotten the terms.  (As Ann154 can attest to).

Rule 2 is read all the fine print, so you know you are actually eligible

Rule 3 is get it in writing from manager at company store, or better yet, ask to see written documentation from the carrier.

Cover your rear folks!

Clearly I can no longer assume that signing a payment agreement showing

that the phone is free no longer works. However I have two separate

screenshots showing that this was a deal they had during the time that I

bought the phone.
