file transferring

I'm trying to transfer files from PC to my phone, with mini USB, but the phone doesn't give me the option to mount USB disk. i used 4 different mini USB cables, all came from droid phones i had over the years

What options DO you get to attach your device. Additionally, what type of computer?

When my Droid Razr Maxx HD is connected to my PC, I put the phone in "Camera (PTP)" mode and the device shows up as a device on my computer which I can open as a folder.

When my Droid Razr Maxx HD is connected to my Mac, I use Android File Transfer to transfer files.

Additionally, if you have a wifi router, you can transfer via wifi. I use ES File Explorer.

I use Mass Storage mode and the internal and external storage show up as lettered drives on my laptop. I can then drag files back and forth. Another option I like to use if it is just a pic or two to transfer is Bluetooth. 🙂
