Moto Z2 Force is supposed to have the Android 9.0 update, but does not. What is going on?
The updates are written by the manufacturer and issued by the manufacturer. Verizon Wireless isn't the manufacturer of that phone.

As a fellow user of the Moto family of Droids, I can understand the need to ensure you're getting the latest and greatest updates pushed through promptly, and we're here to assist! Ann154 hit the nail on the head regarding updates to the operating system. As the provider for service, we do not control the release, we simply test the software updates to be certain there are no hiccups with the update as it relates to the network. After looking up the details it looks like the current software version for your device is ODXS27.109-34-17. So to piggyback on the OPs question: Has there been talk from Motorola(Lenovo) to Verizon on releasing 9.0 for the Z2 Force? I did a quick search, and found T-Mobile is working with Motorola to get a release of 9.0 on Z2 Forces for it's customers.......
