Can't send verizon.net emails from S4Mini

I have a Samsung s4mini. I'm using the email client Verizon ships with the phone. Over the past few months I find I cannot send emails from my Verizon email accounts. No problem with yahoo and other mail accounts. At first I thought it was just when I was on WiFi , which is extremely stupid but I could manage it. But now it does not seem to matter if WiFi is on or not I never turn off mobile data. I've tried rebooting, no help. I tried deleting & re-adding the accounts via the interface, no help. Oh and to make it worse it will on rare occasion actually work. I also tried downloading the verizon fios app, but that only appears to allow for one email address.
Maybe I just need a real email client.
Why can't the biggest communication company on the planet mange communications? I wont even get into the way deleted emails don't get deleted from the server. Or no matter how may emails I tell the client to down load (50, 100, etc.) it insists on re-downloading emails I have already read, telling me I have un-read emails, and the number of messages it downloads goes up & down seemingly as it pleases, well past the setup limit. BTW my wife says that happens with her iPhone too.
God I miss my blackberry.

Thanks for the resply ScottApp08619! Those settings are what we have on file. Since the settings are accurate, I would suggest contact Verizon Communication (Landline) directly at 800-837-4966.
Thank you…

I definitely want to make sure you can use your email fully on your device! Let's make sure everything is set up correctly. Are your incoming server settings currently pop.verizon.net or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net? What Port numbers are you using? Is SSL enabled? Is your outcoing server settings currently smtp.verizon.net or outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net? Are you able to use the Verizon My FiOS app without any trouble?

incoming:
pop3 server: incoming.verizon.net
port: 110
security type: none
Outgoing:
smtp server: outgoing.verizon.net
port: 587
security type: none
Verizon My FiOS: YES. but it forwards in plain text which isn't helpful

Ok so I just spent some quality time with Verizon. Actually helpful folks. All settings are verified correct. They had me clear & re-enter my user name & password in the outgoing settings and that seemed to have resolved some of the issue. I was able to send a new email, and reply to an email. But I could not FWD anything, I just got sending failed notifications. No error messages or anything.
But now a half hour later it wont send anything again. Ugh.
I can send/reply/fwd from my desktop as well as mail.verizon.com/webmail, so it is not the accounts. Everything works using my yahoo account on my phone.
They tried to send me back to VW but halfway through the automated system i got booted and I'm done for now.
So, is there any weird setting or software issue that might be causing this? My phone OS is up to date and I am using the Verizon email software supplied with my phone.
I'm really tempted to get a new email client and delete the Verizon app. Any suggestions out there?

Just a late follow up. It was the email client that came on the phone. I switched to Blue Mail and all problems are resolved. Just in case anyone else has this same issue and finds this in a search.
