I ordered a QIP 7232 yesterday and UPS delivered it today.
Installation was painless. I used all the cabling from my 7216...even the power cord.
New box auto-activated in about 5 minutes once I powered it up.
One improvement I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is channel changes are snappier compared to the old box.
I did lose the programs we had recorded on the old box but on the upside...I no longer have to worry about how many programs we save. I know some for some users 500 GB may not be enough. For us it's more than enough.
I had to re-setup my wife's iPhone FiOS DVR app but that only took a couple of minutes and it's working fine.
We lost our favorites and had to re-create the fav list. No big deal but it's too bad you can't save a favorites list on the Remote DVR web page and transfer the list from one box to another.
Over all....I'm happy.

there's more ram and more flash memory, so its zippier and handles multiple requests and general requests faster than the other two. almost double on all accounts
like the ram was 256 on the 7216 and you have 512 on the 7232

That's my impression. As I said in my OP, channel changes and features like skipping ahead in DVR playback seem faster to me.

That was my point w/ my post. People love to give out "facts" without actually knowing them.

Hi,
Is this box (7232) by invitation only? I'm in Staten ISland and have the 7216. Before I call Customer Service (and get a headache) I thought I'd ask here. I don't believe I got an email so I guess I'm just trying to find out if this is rolled out to S.I.
Thanks
Frank

We were supposed to fill out a form & wait for an email saying it was available --
www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral -> My TV -> Set Top Box -> bottom right banner ad about your DVR > Click and fill in the info to be placed on the waiting list. They are now sending out emails to customers saying that the upgrade is ready, so you might get a quick response, where others were on that waiting list for a month or two
You could also try this --

As I posted in another thread, this is a link I got in an email from Verizon telling me the new DVR was available:
https://www22.verizon.com/ForYourHome/VZRepair/vziha/Service.aspx?ihaweb=WebSTBSwap
I went through the steps provided in that link and had the new box the next day. You could try seeing if you can step through and order a 7232 the same way.
Let us know if it does or doesn't work for you.

Thank you all for the rapid response and suggestions. I clicked the link that you supplied and was greeted by a "Great News" Banner page telling me I was eligible for the upgrade. Upon clicking next, they then proceeded to pull the rug out from under me. 🙂 They apologized and stated they couldn't complete my request at this time. I tried it again just for kicks, but got the same response. I then followed the suggestion to get on the waiting list. So, this is where I am now. Hopefully the wait won't be too long.
Thanks,
Frank

Ah, OK. At least you're on the list now. When you get that link in an email from Verizon you'll be able to complete the steps. Hopefully the wait won't be too long.
Thanks for reporting the outcome. It may help others who also want to get on the waiting list.

To eljefe:
I see you live in Northport....I live in Kings Park. I "requested" the new DVR by logging into my account through the fiostvcentral site and following the My Tv link, and then to the Set Top Boxes link, and then I clicked on the "Want More From Your FIOS DVR" link and filled out the request for an email to be sent when the 7232 is available. Is this how you got your email? I've read all over the forums about people who have had their box for some time now, and especially since you're so close, I can't believe I haven't received an email yet!! I tried calling the local "presence center" but it doesn't seem that I can go in and swap out my boxes in person. I had bought a new TiVo Premiere before hearing about Verizon's new DVR and am waiting to send my TiVo back, but I thought I'd have the new FIOS DVR by now!!

Yep....we're neighbors Sammy73. And yes, you've got it right about the process I used to get the new DVR...same as you've done.
The only reason I can think of why I got mine already and you haven't is I sent that request for an email when the 7232 is available months ago, November or December last year. Hopefully supply will catch up with demand soon and you'll be getting that email that "Your wait is over."
edit: Sent you a PM with a little more info Sammy73.

Hi everyone,
As promised, I am posting with the latest update on my quest to upgrade my DVR here in Staten Island. Thanks to the posters here on this forum, I added my name to the waiting list, and in less than a week I received my e-mail and ordered the new unit. I was a little surprised by the 40 dollar fee, but bit the bullet. I know wait for the shipment and will return my old box to the local store. Thanks again everyone. I will continue to monitor this and other threads, as they are immensely informational and worthwhile.
Thanks
Frank

Just received the 7232 but having a problem getting box to respond to genesis 850. All equipment is in a closet and use MRF-250 to communicate. Was setup for Motorola and will work when pointed directly at box but with door closed and in other room get no signal.
I'm assuming it is location of the RF signal on the front of the box I am missing but just can't find the right spot. Any suggestions?

With the new 7232, if I change it to a Multi Room DVR will my other HD DVR boxes be able to view the recordings on it? Or is that a feature that is not live yet?

I have a question about these new DVR boxes. Have they added any functionality to watch your recorded programs remotely from a PC? I read TiVO's have that functionality and I had always hoped to be able to do it with my FiOS DVR.
