I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

When I want weather information immediately, I turn on WeatherScan, channel 49. I can see radar instantly and know where the storm is headed, as long as a wide shot of the region. I either don't have or don't have the time to consult a cell phone or a computer application. WeatherScan includes airport information, as well -- it provides a complete service in one place that I cannot find elsewhere, online or on phone, with such convenience.
Verizon's databases can tell them how much time I spend on WeatherScan, as opposed to the other channels they offer to us, their subscribers. Do they care to crunch those numbers or are the suits that run Verizon too focused on their bottom line?
The removal of The Weather Channel and WeatherScan make Verizon's services less important to me. Perhaps, like others who have posted in this forum, I will take my money to someone who will give me what I can use.

Aside from agreeing about the named weather systems being stupid, I will REALLY miss The Weather Channel and Jim Cantore. AccuWeather sucks. Verizon should at least give us a discount for giving us a bargain-basement weather service!

So upset that Verizon didn't renew agreement with Weather Channel 49, 119 & 619 HD. We loved these channels to keep up updated on weather condiditons all day long. Also, my husband loved to watch chanel 119's programming. We don't download apps & we shouldn't be forced to. My monthly bill is high enough without losing channels that we love to watch. I suggest you reinstate these channels.

Better do some research. Other providers have dropped TWC, usually temporarily but some permanently. The biggest temporary drop was DirecTv which got them to cut back on reality shows before they came back.

I too am VERY upset with this. I would like to write to FIOS corporate headquarters. I have been a FiOS subscriber for as long as they have had it (and Verizon for over 30 years), but am now looking to change. Comcast still has these channels.
I also did not like the sneaky way they did this, announcing it on the actual day it happened.
My contract is up next month, excellent timing. Mary Ann, I agree: we don't download apps and we shouldn't be forced to! Our monthly bill is high enough without losing channels that we love to watch.
Whom should we contact at corporate about this?

I mailed a letter to
Verizon Corporate HQ, 140 West St., New York, NY 10007
On March 10th my husband and I awoke to an ugly surprise The Weather Channel is no longer part of our Fios package. I’m 61 and handicapped. I used electrical medical equipment. I need to keep apprized of the weather at all times. If a power outage is expected I need to evacuate.
My husband works outdoors, he watches the weather channel each night and again in the morning to prepare for work. It helps him plan his outfit and what gear he will need during the day. The TWC’s radar in motion helps him plan his day around the weather. On stormy days he will call home and have me check the radar.
Whether you believe in climate change or not, it is a fact that the US is having more frequent and more severe storms then in recent history. This winter had multiple snow storms on Long Island. The snow that fell in January is just starting to melt now in the middle of March. Soon we will be entering hurricane season, Long Island is still recovering from hurricane Sandy which happened in 2012. This is not the time to get rid of the premium weather channel.
As far as using a Smartphone or computer to receive weather forecasts. Many people including my husband do not have these items. If he does need to use a Smartphone for weather, we would be better off switching back to Cablevision (optimum) then we would have local wifi included. That would make going online out in the field cheaper and faster. Why is Verizon pushing customers over to Cablevision?
I want The Weather Channel back!

Lord, yes! I have a tv upstairs and the only thing I ever use it for is to watch the weather channerl. So, imagine my distress and dismay this morning when I turned it on and there was Accuweather! I've been offered a cracker to eat when I'm used to a full, rich, satisfying meal.
Get that contract signed and bring back my weather channel. The "replacement" is less than useless to me and I will not be watching anything at all on that television. It will sit and collect dust.
Now, downstairs, my dh can continue to watch the channels he enjoys but he will also suffer the loss of the best programming on the air.
Whatever it takes, BRING BACK THE WEATHER CHANNEL.

This is ridiculous. Sending out an e-mail on the day of service change is not an appropriate way to notify people. I've had TWC on Cable for almost 30 years, and I want it back. I watch it all the time, and learned a great deal about weather over the years.
I don't know if I can, but I would like to get out of my contract with FtOS.
Anyone out there know who we can e-mail at FIOS Corporate about this?

I AM POSTING A FORMAL COMPLANT AGAINST VERIZON FIOS FOR REMOVING THE WEATHER CHANNEL AND REPLACING IT WITH A EXTREMLY CRAPPY ACCU WEATHER.....WE PAY GOO MONEY FOR OUR SEVICES AND YOU HAVE TO LET ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CHANNELS GO.....REALLY????
IF IT DOES NOT COME BACK I WILL TAKE ALL MY SERVICES SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I HAVE FAMILY ALL OVER THE USA AND I LIKE TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE SAFE WHEN THEY ARE HAVING BAD WEATHER. I HAVE A ONE BILL ACCOUNT WITH ALL THE BEST UPGRADES AND MY CELL PHONES WITH VERIZON. IF YOU CAN'T KEEP THE WEATHER CHANNEL FOR US THAN YOU ARE NO GOOD TO ME AT ALL. I'M SURE VERIZON MAKES ENOUGH MONEY TO KEEP THE WEATHER CHANNEL.

I am very mad about the loss of the Weather Channel! It was there yesterday and gone today! Sneaky! My husband tells me at least once a week to switch providers and I think if they dont get the Weather Channel back REALLY soon we will and we have a bundle. This is one of those times when you should speak up if this bothers you. I just turned on the Weather Channel before i take my dog for a walk to see the temp outside and no local weather!! Sorry this just makes me soooo mad considering the cost of FIOS. I also live chatted about it with someone from the company and he gave me the company line of how they now have accuweather! Not the same ! With all of the money from customer bills, and commercials airing on their channels they could afford to negotiate with The Weather Channel. They are slowly killing television as we know it and we need to put our foot down.

I agree. Verizon has done a big dis-service to their customers by making these changes. Call to complain and make our voices heard. For high cost of service this is unacceptable. Will leave verizon when contract is up.

I also am very irritated by the removal of The Weather Channel. It has the most comprehensive weather info available and has many more features that make it desirable. Not to mention the best weather people like Sam Champion, Mike Seidel, and Jim Cantore, etc.
God forbid Verizon should keep it's customers happy--money is their bootom line and their only priority. SHAMEFUL.

Reinstate The Weather Channel to your lineup. Your lame email excuse for not renewing The Weather Channel does not fool any of us. You wanted a weather product for less money. You got an unreliable, inferior product. Weather readers and youtube/viral videos are not what I pay for when I want weather. I need weather for the entire country and analysis from individuals who are actually trained and articulate. If The Weather Channel is not reinstated, I will find another cable provider and take great joy in encouraging others to also unplug from Verizon TV.

Very unhappy, I don't always want to go searching for my app, just switch to 49 for quick update and move on,also really liked all the storm coverage, ACCUWEATHER is a cheap replacement for the weather channel. Lousy decision, Might start looking elsewhere for my TV/Internet/Phone service, Can you say Comcast? Accuweather is just bad, Terrible sound and have to wait forever to see my local weather. Get The Weather Channel back.

I completely agree with poster. The Weather channel is basic and necessary! We watch it all the time, including their programming. Seriously considering dropping all FIOS and going to another provider unless weather channel is renewed. Apps and widgets are no substitute.

I love watching the Weather Channel but I also need it for its severe weather information.
There are 100s of ridiculous shows on that can easily be cut but why would you cut a popular essential channel. AARGH!!
