I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

If the Weather Channel is not brought back I am seriously considering changing carriers. I was in the process of changing when Fox went off the air. This is the last straw. Stop being so cheap Verizon. Your customers pay a lot of money for your services. Actually too much money. This is not acceptable!!! I have had it with your company!

Good riddance to the TWC I say. Once upon a time TWC was a channel you could rely on to get weather at any time. Now it's a 50/50 chance if you actually see anything about weather. Local TV channels have also stepped up their weather capabilities and there are even better alternatives on the internet. I don't need to Jim C. whooping around like any idiot because he heard thunder snow. And the naming of snow storms, please. TWC is now just another self swerving sensational based bit of reality TV. I don't want to pay to support more reality shows.

I want LOCAL Live Radar 24/7 with live 5 day forcast.. Important feature we use everyday.

Don't care what label Verizon uses.. Don't want some talking head ,,or other far away locations forecast ! THX

ReMove stupid channels that show Fios operation..they lag and your can't scan through them !

I am also very upset about this.  We check Weatherscan everyday to determine what the weather  will be that day and current temp.  More importantly, this is a PUBLIC SAFETY issue.   People rely on the radar to show upcoming severe weather approaching and for  t-storm, tornado warnings etc.  During a recent day long snowstorm, the radar was extremely valuable in knowing when the storm would be clearing us so we could go out, clear out driveway, etc. I am very nervous about driving in any bad weather, so I heavily rely on the live radar to know when there is a window i can go out.  There is NO substitute for live radar anywhere else (insufficient on computer, phone app etc).

I use Weatherscan channel everyday. Its the local part of the Weather Channel. I'm reallly disappointed Verizon has decided to drop this channel. Its really one of the few informative channels that is actually useful. My decision to stay with Verizon when my contract is up may have just a got a little easier to make in June.

My wife is really upset with VERIZON and loosing the weather channel. Acuweather stinks. Bring back channel 49. It is getting very frustrating with Verizon, the way they make changes without providing a solution to what is being removed. The wigets are slow and don't provide any of the information that was on the weather channel.

I miss Channel 49 as well.  It was very convenient, and actually a nice channel to switch to avoid annoying commercials.

My wife is also very upset with Verizon and the dumping of both the Weather Channel and any LIVE radar by also getting rid of Weatherscan on Channel 49 ... plus Accuweather has no Closed Captioning and does not provide accessibility to the Deaf community, while the Weather Channel does ..... She is highly upset and is wanting to go back to BrightHouse. I'm not so sure that I disagree with her because while I often use the Internet for weather and radar, there is nothing better than live local Radar on the big screen when surprise and severe weather is threatening or when you don;t feel like reaching for the SmartPhone.

Accu-weather is not impressive and all and is not local at all. The Weather Channel is so much better.

Maybe going back to BrightHouse is the right choice.

Maybe Verizon is "moving in another direction" but I bet my bill won't.  Ridiculous that they would make such a move without input from who pays their bills, then on top of that sneaking it in to only announce it the day it happens but not adjust the rates they charge accordingly.  Shame on Verizon for such a low class move.

On the positive side, anyone who is looking for a job should apply at Comcast - I have a feeling they will be hiring a lot of customer service reps this year to handle the increased business!

It's hard to find any area with TV where FIOS has things other providers don't.   There are countless channels that customers want in HD that other carriers have (from my perspective the sports ones like FoxSports 2, Premier League Xtra Time, GolTV,etc.) and when they do get them they are always the last one to carry them.   Don't even get started on the ipad app where you are very limited with channels outside of the home network and no ability to take DVR content that you already pay for with you.    Now this crap with dropping the Weather Channel because they think we get our weather information elsewhere?!?!   If that is the rationale then why do we have news and sports channels since we can get that information from a newspaper and online?    Why even carry live sports if we can get the scores on our phone?   Why carry network programming or movie channels if we can read about them in Wikipedia or other online sites?    The rationale they provided in the email to customers was ridiculous.   Instead we waste a valuable HD channel on weather programming from AccuWeather that looks like a high school kid put it together on is Mac.

Over the years The Weather Channel has been like an old friend, their coverages of storms have no equal. I will go so far as to say they save lives. I for one am sick and tired of beibg used as one of Verizons pawns in their negociatings with networks to get a cheaper price. The whole time while they move around and rename channel packages in attemps to sucker us out of more money.

Be advised Verizon, living where i do i have many choices for TV entertainment with FiOS being only one. I will be shopping around for a new payTV provider be it Dish, DirecTV, RCN, Comcast or others i am not yet aware of. Hell, Comcast sends me something in snail mail everyday. Yes, one channel, The Weather Channel can be our deal breaker. I dont use your buggy worthless DVR anyway.

Many people don't have a smart phone or other device to which they can download a weather App. Still others like and choose to get weather information from a source broadcast on TV. I mean, really, who wants to constantly look at a tiny screen. My family and I always found TWC to be a great source of information provided in a professional manner, with some humor thrown in when appropriate. When we chose Verizon, one reason was that it had TWC. Verizon has been dropping some of our favorite channels over the years, making it increasingly difficult to keep them as our provider. This move with TWC takes the cake. If any Verizon rep views this, it's clear you care nothing about your customers - the people that keep you in business. What's worse is that putting up Accuweather insults our intelligence. That station is a cheap joke! Know that we will be looking to move all services to another provider ASAP because we really have no reason to stay with Verizon.

Couldn't agree with you more, Sherig50....this station is worthless and IS insulting our intelligence will be looking for another provider as well.....Have been watching The Weather Channel since its inception and appreciate the experience and professionalism of its meteorologists....This is SO unbelievable...We always thought Verizon provided the BEST programing available....what a crash that was when Verizon fell off its pedestal to the mediocrity of TV programming! Where are the meteorologists with the doctorates? Well back to looking for another provider!!!!!

Thanks trainman2. This move by Verizon is really quite unbelievable. Let's hope those making the decisions are getting word that a good number of customers are, to put it politely, extremely upset. And, moreover, that a number are planning to dump Verizon. TWC is a staple in so many homes. Plus, a five year old could do better reporting and coverage than Accuweather. Fingers crossed that negotiations reopen.

I am so disappointed that Verizon did not choose to renew the Weather Channel, I  view this channel daily.  If it is not reinstated I will change service providers.  Between the constant raising of rates and the loss of channels, it's no longer worth it.

This is the most stupid thing Verizon Fios could do! The Weather Channel is a valuble resource that can and has helped save lives. They are expert weather people and I trust them as do many others. This is STUPID! I have family that live all over the US and I depend on this in times of special weather events to know the exact conditions and have actually warned my Mom of an impending Tonado and with seconds to spare had her take cover.

This is clearly a decison that was kept low key and secret and obviously took a lot of planning. Just spring it on us!

I am going to look into other options right away! I am going viral with this too!!

Seriously Fios? TWC is a staple and watch it daily to stay up with weather where my family lives. There is no substitute for it.. PLEASE RECONSIDER. I don't think you realize how many people watch it and rely on it. I live in Florida and during hurrican seaon it is invaluable. DON'T REPLACE THE WEATHER CHANNEL, PLEASE!

Why are you doing this? We watch the weather channel every day. Do you realize your competitor xfinity offers this channel with their very basic package. Is it time to switch back to Xfinity???

Please bring this channel back.

Seriously? You can't take 30 seconds and visit one of the couple dozen weather sites out there and check the weather for anywhere on the entire planet? I hope Verizon stands firm and doesn't pay the absurd fees that The Weather Channel is asking for.

Let me add my voice to the cacophony complaining about Verizon's short sighted decision not to carry TWC.  It's a daily staple and in TX with tornado season coming it's a even more valuable and needed resource which Verizon has chosen to take away from paying customers.

Unless this is addressed quickly I will be shopping for a new provider.  Get with it Verizon, listen to your disgruntled customers
