I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I have just signed a 2yr renewal and find that without notice, Verizon has removed the Weather channel.  The replacement is NOT satisfactory.  WC had lots of programming beyond weather and I am being deprived of one of the few stations I watch on TV.

BAD BAD, Verizon

Verizon is driving me to watch more and more on my computer.   The Verizon line up is becoming irrelivant. The Weather Channel had the ONLY good coverage of this season's snow storms and always the best coverage before and after hurricanes and tornados.   This Accuweather is no different than my local weather channel.  This is another reason that I refuse to upgrade my equipment....I refuse to be locked in to a contract.

I wax appalled to see TWC was taken out of the line-up, and if is not returned I will change providers. Yes, there are apps for the forecast, but in reality, my family watches the channel for on-location front line reporting. Having lived in several of the areas impacted by major weather coca ranches (the string on winter storms that hit Boston most recently) I count on this information. To the powers that be at Verizon, I know you ate counting on customer inertia, but this " decision" will not be without customer loss.

Verxon took what I use and gave me nothing in return. Accuweather? Like I said, nothing in return. When I wake up in the AM the first thing I did was click on Weatherscan (49). Then I knew whether to take an umbrella, if I needed to hurry up and mow, or plant if rain was on going to show up, or even when I needed to hit the road,  TWC (49 and 119) were the only truly useful channels Verizon had. Without TWC or Jon Stewart, what do I need to keep Verizon? I can switch to Roku lots, lots cheaper.

I WANT THE WEATHER CHANNEL BACK NOW OR ELSE! I am so upset with this bureacratic red tape from Corporate America...ok, so each month, contingent upon how Verizon feels and if the comparison that a channel fills a need for them or not, they send a message via FIOS mailbox or the back of a paper bill that advises a channel is either no longer available or being replaced. If I am not contacted to ask my stance or opinion about the impending change, why am I asked to contine to pay the same rate as if I have all the channels I had when I initially signed up? We pay an exorbitant amount for these packages and each month, the service offered decreases. I am considering asking the Board of Public Utilities a couple of questions about how to get a refund for all the channels they have taken away since I have signed up (they have only replaced about 10% of them). As Bobby Flay would say "Are you ready for a throwdown?"

what I found funny is the **bleep** email I got the night before about them cutting it.. their excuse was 'we don't need the Weather Channel anymore.. we have many other ways to get the weather'.. well no crap.. I have a smart tv and smartphone next to me all the time.. I watch the weather channel becuase I like the coverage and programming.. yeah even some of the programming from time to time..  I'm so freaking **bleep** at Acuweather being on instead.. I live in florida and it's literally taken me 25 minutes for them to rotate to the weather for my area..   I don't even like the Accuweather app on my TV..  I don't turn on the TV just to see a forecast and it's not up to them to tell me how to get my weather.. like I don't know I can sign on to this new phenomenon called.. what is it.. the internet?  and holy cow Verizon your'e telling me my smartphone can tell me the weather?? what kind of wizardry is this???  I get fliers from Xfinity every month almost and I never thought to look into them.. I don't need you to give me what others can...

by your reasoning Verizion I don't really need you anymore either.. I can get what I want from Xfinity, Roku or even the Fire tv that crazy Gary Busey is pushing with his seashell you plug into the TV...  and fairly soon i'm sure we'll be able to pay for the channels we want when we want them...

Xfninity i'm expecting the Weather channel to be on your next flier waiting in my mailbox...  and for once i may keep it and consider it...

We are quite upset that Verizon has discontinued the weather channel. It was the first channel we turned on in the morning and the last channel we looked at before going to bed. We are avid fishermen and this channel is very important not only to us but to thousands of commercial and recreational fishermen in the Hampton Roads/Tidewater area. Fishing is a multi-million dollar industry for the Commonwealth and people travel from all over the world to fish in the Chesapeake Bay. The substitute channel now on Channel 49 (Newport News) is very substandard. Knowing what the weather conditions are is an extremely important safety issue when planning fishing trips. We are thinking about going back to Cox.

This is a travesty.  My day is not complete without Wake up with Al...FIOS claims i can get this content elsewhere..well I cannot.  There is a void in my life now.  I just renewed and feel cheated that this was not shared beforehand and abruptly removed without any care or consideration to the customers.

Fios is 'pleased to announce' AccuWeather? You shouldn't be. It's horrible. TWC has been at it long enough to be the best in coverage of important weather events, whether it be occuring now or forecast to occur, particularly during severe weather season. You've dropped the ball on this one. As Verizon rates continue to climb, the temptation was there to try something else and this may just be the deal breaker. Thanx for the options.

I can't believe TWC is gone and replaced with Accuweather - yuck!  Verizon has just gotten cocky with their services - we should all walk away and go back to cable for a while and see if it impacts their bottom line.

What happened to the Weather Channel???  AccuWeather is only broadcasting weather for the northeast from what I see.  That doesn't do me much good here in Dallas.  This is now a wasted channel on my TV - and channel 49 is also gone - so two wasted channels now.  I switched to Fios, in part, so I could have the Weather Channel.  Looks like I may have to go shopping for another provider.

Agree with all...TWC was a staple in our daily viewing. Very poor business Verizon! So much for caring about the customer!!

The Weather Channel is the primary reason for subscribing to FIOS and getting the package I did.  By removing the Weather Channel, Verizon has changed a significant part of my cable subscription.  I now consider my contact VOID.  I plan to research and change my provider.  Maybe not just the TV..

The AccuWeather channel is worse than useless.  The "weather readers" offer nothing.  I would prefer a computer generated voice reading me the information.  It's use of viral videos about weather is insulting.  If I want a radar picture, I will go online and get one.  Or wait for TWC's Local on the 8's.  Not be subjected to the "weather readers" and the rotating views of the country.

Bring back the Weather Channel!!!  Now, before the severe storms crank up and I can't get useful information.

Once again, verizon doesnt care about its customers. Just the bottom line. Reminds me of the mess with the SEC network last summer. I actually had an appointment with Comcast scheduled when Verizon finally got on board.

Now, they arent even negotiating. The Weather Channel is gone for good. I hope people will leave Verizon because of this.

I am so angry that Verizon decided to drop the Weather Channel without consulting the people that are paying for it.  I am also angry that I keep getting emails to purchase/rent movies that they are pushing.  If I could drop Verizon today, I would.

I checked out the Accuweather channel last night. What a PoC. The audio wasn't even in sync.

FiOS has no problem taking extra money from me for some crappy local sports channels that I never watch. I wish they would give me the option to dump those local sports channels and put the money toward the Weather channel instead. At least then I could possibly get my moneys worth. I never watch any of the local sports channels but I did watch several shows on The Weather Channel. And the Accuweather channel is a crappy replacement for The Weather Channel. Which I will not be watching.

Even the crappy .TV channels are better than the Accuweather Channel. What a waste of space. Is The Accuweather Channel even using H.264 or is FiOS wasting more space using MPEG2 on the dog of a channel?

I agree with everyone that has posted concerning Verizon's ridiculous decision to not renew the The Weather Channel contract. This new channel Verizon is offering as a replacement is an inferior product. If Verizon thinks that this new channel is equal to what the Weather Channel offers they need to wake up. Is it time to give another provider my money? Verizon if your number one in customer satisfaction then act like it.    I want the Weather Channel BACK!
