I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

Bad enough Verizon Fios doesn't have anything that compares to News12 on Cablevision, and now losing the Weather Channel. It's back to Cablevision for us!

Same here! I learned to live without news 12 painfully but the weather channel is the final straw. When im just channel surfing or looking fro local info these 2 are my default channels Accu weather and fios 1 dont cut it, both look like they were created with some 1990's software. and havee\ no content im going back to optimum on friday morning if the weather channel isnt back! Save some money too!

RENEW The Weather Channel. I will not renew with Verizon this August even though I really dislike COMCAST. At least COMCAST has the weather channel.

I am shocked and infuriated that Verizon just yanked my favorite channel without any notice whatsoever. What is the matter with you??? I've been watching The Weather Channel 25 years since it started. Its on EVERY day, and I keep track of weather of family members in other states. I love the non-weather programming as well, and watch every night.
Accuweather? Are you seriously kidding me? I will never watch that - its cheap and cheesy. Is this how you respect your customers? Its certainly not good business. If I could ditch Verizon today, I would. Put back our Weather Channel or you will lose another customer As Soon As the contract ends. And that is SOON

I believe that Verizon has broken the contract with its customers by removing such a popular channel. Let's all call the Board of Public Utilities and see if they agree! Comcast here I come.

I WILL SWITCH BACK TO COMCAST IF I DONT GEt THE WEATHER CHANNEL BACK!
I spend $300. a month on verizon. this is a slap in the face, has someone from verizon actually watched accu weather? it looks like 1989 weather. and there excuse that people use weather apps and widgets for there weather is **bleep** if that was true then why bother putting accu weather on? I actually like several progams on the weather channel and I cant stand the local channels. This is a bone head move by verizon and needs to be reversed. there are alot of unused channels to put accu weather on.

I found out the change last night when i came home from work and turn on the tv to the weather channel. This morning i called verizon and spoke to a customer service rep.He told me that this channel is here to stay.I told him that my kids watch this channel and they learn a lot about the weather. He did sympathise with me but there is nothing he could do about this.I guess the highly paid execs who has no regard to the hard working familys who pays average of $200 a month and this is how we are treated.I also wanted to say that the accu weather picture quality is poor when i told this to the customer service rep. he tells me that the accu weather is a internet streamed picture.go figure.. So i pay almost $200 for this....time to look in to Time warner cable....

Sneaky {word filter avoidance} pulled the weather channel and thought they could replace it with some 2nd rate programming !! Shame on you Verizon for trying to get over on your loyal customers. I for one will not stand for it and I will be shopping for a new service provider . I 'm sure there are some very sweet deals out there these days.

First you take away the Weather Channel, without reducing the price, then you take away 3 College Football channels without reducing the price, What's next?????
I WANT THE WEATHER CHANNEL BACK. AFTER THE WINTER WE HAVE HAD, WHO WAS THE GENIUS WHO THOUGHT THAT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS DO NOT WANT THE WEATHER CHANNEL? WHOEVER IT WAS, GET RID OF THAT PERSON AND PUT THE WEATHER CHANNEL BACK ON. WE ARE DISCUSTED WITH VERIZON.

I'm with you. Besides weather, the weather channel had some good programs. As usual Verizon's rediculous explanation doesn't ring true. SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW!

I admit I don't always look at the Weather Channel for the current temp or even the forecast, but I do watch the live feed given during big weather events. I like to have the opportunity to do this without trying to look at a small screen or watch a video of something that already happened early that morning. And some days it is easier to look at the radar on the Local on the 8s or the station that showed that information all day so you didn't have to wait for a specific time. The widget takes a long time to load at times. I would just rather have the Weather Channel back in the line up. The other carrier that tried to do this figured out that it just was not working since they were losing so many customers. You can't tell us what we use at our convenience.

I can only add my extreme displeasure that you have taken the Weather Channel off your service. Weatherscan itself is a very valuable tool because it has continuous radar during severe weather. That is something that can be used to know when to get to a safe room from a severe weather event.
Really want this channel back!
I have been a loyal customer of FIOS for 8 years.

I just got off the phone with a Verizon supervisor and they said they will not be picking the Weather Channel back up - such a shame and such a terrible way to handle paying customers. The more I consider this, I don't watch that much tv anyway - just the weather channel and a few shows. I think I'm dropping the cable and that's going to cost me $400 dollars for an early termination that will not be waived smh!

I'm in the same boat. I have the triple play with Ultimate TV package and now they dump one of the few channels I watch? I bet Charter carries TWC.

Has ANYONE from Verizon chimed in to this forum? Pretty lame that there are nearly 700 comments and I have seen nary a response.
Verizon doesn't "chime" in these forums. The forums are used for customer to customer communication. The Verizon moderators simply keep things cordial and occasionally escalate specific customer issues to the support team.
A moderator did post a copy of the official statement about TWC that was released by Verizon to all customers, but don't expect anything else from them.
It's also very unlikely that all the posts here will even register within Verizon. If you really want to make a statement that they will pay attention to, cancel your service.
Good Luck.

I agree, I just wanted to state my adversity to the stance Verizon has taken to drop the Weather Channel from it's package.
There was no place to contact them and complain. I found this forum subject and thought I'd chime in with my displeasure.
Horrible on-line customer contact options.

I am extremely disappointed in the loss of The Weather Channel. Waking up to someone positive like Sam Champion started my day our right. The AccuWeather Channel is mundane.
In addition to the positive morning weather report, I enjoyed the informational segments and other intriguing shows offered via The Weather Channel. Verizon has made a poor choice. My choice is to return to Time Warner when my contract expires. Time Warner seems more relevant to my preferences and to my news choices: San Diego news instead of LA news.
Sometimes it's the little things that count.
