I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

This is really ridiculous Verizon.   We are in the midwest and we are approaching spring thunderstorm and tornado season when having The Weather Channel and Weather Scan are most important.   I would have expected more from you than using your customers as a price negotiating tool to leverage with these channels.   Bring them both back because I certainly don't need television service to get the low grade content provided by your poor substitutes.

VZ ... you have a couple of weeks to get this straightened out. Just checked with COMCAST and they have comparable service (including weather channel) for comparable prices.  Good news is new customer gift card will cover cost of my early termination with VZ.

Hey, that is a great idea!  Using the gift card when signing up for Comcast to offset the FIOS penalty.  Genius!

Bring back TWC or I'll be gone.  And I will take the $500/month I spend between Verizon AND Verizon Wireless with me. And, if I believe those in this thread, many others will follow suit.

It seems Cablevison is airing a commercial especially focusing on Fios Customers who no longer have the Weather Channel Station and Widget on your TV. I Keep hearing it advertised all day.

They obviously have "The Weather Channel" AND "ACTUALLY WANT YOUR BUSINESS (THE DISREGARDED LOYAL FIOS CUSTOMER."

Greedy and biting the hand that feeds you $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Renew the Weather Channel or you can say Bye Bye to Thousands of Customers because you Discontinued offering the Weather Channel which is one of the most highly used and valuable services of Fios.

Alot of Seniors and Disabled people cannot affort a cellphone.

I have an idea DUMP THE WORTHLESS WEATHER BUG WIDGET AND PAY THAT MONEY TOWARD WEATHER CHANNEL STATION AND  WEATHER CHANNEL WIDGET  SERVICES.

Wake Up Verizon before you have no customer base.

Life Long Verizon Customer Who has been with you for DECADES!

GET RID OF WEATHERBUG IT'S USELESS AND NEVER CORRECT.

ALOT OF DIABLED AND ELDERLY PEOPLE DEPEND ON THE WEATHER CHANNEL AND WIDGET FOR THEIR AREA. MOST OF THEM ARE HOMEBOUND DUE TO NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN.

Thousands of people switching? Because of the Weather Channel??? Somehow I seriously doubt that. May be a few dozen but not thousands. Personally, I'm glad to have a weather channel that actually shows the weather. Though I will miss Weatherscan, that was very helpful.

The part that is really frustrating is they keep dropping channels.  I just got a letter in the mail saying they are moving Fox College Sports channels 300-302 to a higher package.

Then $1 increase per STB.  When will the madness stop?

Starting today, I will be contacting Xfinity by Comcast to see if they will pay me the fee you will be charging when I cancel my service with FiOS.  I am sure they will be more than happy to have a new customer.  I am more than disappointed that you refused to renew the contract with the Weather Channel.  I rely on this channel for work and the AccuWeather Crap you replaced it with is not acceptable.  I wish you had given your valued customers more notice that this was happening so we change cable providers.

Julie - I'm with you. Are they going to credit us for channels we are paying for and are not getting?  Probably not.  I'll going to look into ATT Uverse and Time Warner.

How many different threads do we need on this change?  Is it really so difficult to find the existing thread and post there?

Nice of Verizon to cut the Weather Channel(s) and provide "Accuweather" with no notice.  Hardly a substitute and reception is so bad, I can't hear any audio.  TV weather is now completely useless.  We depended on those channels this winter for live weather information.

What's next Verizon, broadcast news?

Ya not to mention the programing on the weather channel that has been taken away???

Verizon FIOS dropped The Weather Channel because of a contract dispute.  I have called Verizon demanding they either put The Weather Channel back on or else deduct a percentage of my bill for not giving me all the services I bought.

Accu-Weather blows and is no sustitute for TWC.

Thanks Verizon for dumping TWC!  I could care less about the "celebrities"! TWC has devolved to a reality tv channel

and getting national weather at 2:00 am was impossible unless I went to the internet.

Nice to flip on the big screen and see the radar for Dallas or Chicago. Some of us travel more than 10 miles daily and just want a forcast without the fools dancing around in front of the map!  Do we really need to see 25 "reporters" standing out in the rain or snow to know it's raining or snowing?

Accuweather is getting back to basics without the drama and rock star egos.

Does anyone ever stop to think that the trucking industry depends on the weather more than anyone else?

We need to see whats going on to make sure YOU have food, gas and medical supplies, on time, when you need them!

Anyone that wants to go back to cable, don't let the door hit you in the butt.

I am writing to you today to express my extreme displeasure with your decision to discontinue The Weather Channel (TWC) from my FiOS television lineup. TWC has been a cherished part of my viewing experience to which I tune in each day when I get ready for work and when I arrive at home. TWC provides a predictable source of key information for my daily planning and for severe weather coverage.

Your decision to drop TWC without my input may be a grave and misguided mistake. Consider that loyal subscribers like me are now placed in the difficult position of having to decide whether or not to continue subscription services with Verizon FiOS over the issue of this one, seemingly insignificant channel. According to your 10 March email, the reason for dropping TWC was that “customers are increasingly accessing weather information not only from their TV but from a variety of online sources and apps.” Let’s think about that a bit. I would suggest that the market segment that accesses weather information in this way may not a fair representation of your loyal Verizon FiOS subscribers. Chances are that individuals who access content in this way are most likely co-habitants of paying subscribers. These include Millennials who are quite adept at finding online content for free. Not folks like me who are willing to pay upwards of $200/mo for bundled phone, high-speed internet and television services for my household.

While your pricing dispute with TWC is unfortunate, the channel itself is an extremely popular and a singularly unique product offering over which some subscribers may be willing to leave their current service provider. And while the decision to drop TWC may be a calculated business risk, it is important to consider that a lost customer represents revenue lost not just from television subscriptions, but also high-speed internet, telephony, and wireless - the whole bundle.

The flaw in your business decision, as I see it, is that Verizon FiOS appears to be counting on a future market segment that is less likely to sustain your current business model in the near or long term and alienating an existing market segment that can. That decision could very well become a case-study in how to grossly misjudge your customer base.
