I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I agree, this is a sad day, they better bring this back or they will lose a lot of customers.  I hate comcast, but I might start looking into them now.

RCN sounds like a better place as well.

I agree they need to reinstate the Weather Channel immediately! I just signed onto Verizon and I didn't sign up to have channels taken away from me already! I'm paying for choice.

I am very angry about losing the weather Channel. I was very comfortable with their programming and coverage of all the weather. I hate this accuweather you stuck us with. It is badly formatted, full of commercials and hard to follow regarding weather in our area.

I HATE Accuweather and am very angry with Verizon for dropping the Weather Channel, and without warning.  Gee, thanks!  Well, they have 30 days to get TWC back or I'm dropping Verizon.  And now THEY have warning.  TWC is (WAS) the most watched channel in my house and is not just informative but entertaining.  I also don't like the Weatherbug - and you don't press "C" to access the stupid widgets like it tells you to on channel 49, it's "A" on my remote.  The Weatherbug doesn't even have the map in motion so I can't even tell what direction the rain or snow is coming from and can't gauge when it will end.  I accessed TWC every day to plan my day.  Just sticking my head out the window doesn't tell me what it's going to do later, and I don't just use the Internet to access the weather.  How dare Verizon determine that everyone uses other methods to get the weather?  Then why bother giving us Accuweather and that stupid Weatherbug as an alternate??  The best part?  I contacted Verizon customer service to tell them I wasn't happy about it and the girl tried to sell me more services!!!!!!!!!!  SERIOUSLY????  Smiley Mad

Agree 100%!!! I am lost without the Weather Channel. I have been a Verizon subscriber since "Pay TV" was invented. And I see they also took away some college sports stations, granted I may not have watched them, but they were there if I wanted to. I didn't notice my bill go down from the reduction in service :(. And losing Weather Channel is a huge loss!!!!

Among all the worthless channels provided, Weatherscan was the one very useful service we used for a good part of every day. PLEASE PUT IT BACK!!!

We are very disappointed that Verizon decided to drop The Weather Channel!  It is one of our favorite channels to watch.  We enjoy the amazing stories, series and information covered on and produced by The Weather Channel. The coverage of local and national weather and the tracking of storms is essential!  The Weather Channel team is funny, entertaining and professional.

Accuweather is a horrible replacement and doesn't cover local weather at all!  When we first turned on channel 119 SD on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, we thought it was a glitch that we weren't receiving the local weather reports.  The display, colors and format that Accuweather uses are also extremely harsh to view.  We checked on 619 HD and the broadcast was exactly the same--unpleasant, ugly, cheap-looking and only showing national weather.  The Weather Channel showed local weather on the 8s on 119 SD and national weather on 619 HD.  Now we have nothing!!!!!  Every morning our kids have become accustomed to asking us what the weather would be for the day, so that they could plan their clothing.  Since Tuesday, we have had to anwer that we didn't know yet while reaching to get our other devices to go online to find out this information.

This is an atrocity and an unacceptable disregard for Verizon customers.  We are horrified that Verizon did not take the time to communicate with or survery their customers and preferences before dropping The Weather Channel.  To date, we still have not received any communications from Verizon.  We also contacted Verizon Customer Service to inquire about this issue and to register a complaint.  The representative stated that Verizon employees were also unaware that this change was coming beforehand, and that they had received numerous complaints.

Unfortunately, we will start looking at other cable providers in our area.

From The Weather Channel:

Q:
Why did Verizon FiOS decide to drop The Weather Channel, WeatherScan and its bundle of products?
A:
Providers like Verizon FiOS negotiate with networks like The Weather Channel to carry our content to customers as part of their package. Our contract with Verizon FiOS expired on Tuesday, March 10, while we sought to amicably resolve the negotiations. In the end, we offered Verizon FiOS our bundle of services at a lower price than the previous contract. They were unresponsive to our offer and surprised us and their customers by unexpectedly dropping The Weather Channel, WeatherScan, Weather Channel On Demand and The Weather Channel weather widget from their offering. Along with our fans impacted by this decision, we are urging Verizon FiOS to reconsider and bring back The Weather Channel and our complimentary services.

They offered Verizon TWC services AT A LOWER PRICE THAN BEFORE - REALLY VERIZON!!  Who is in charge?   Just when I thought I could not be more outraged at this decision.

Bring back TWC, WeatherScan and its bundle of products!!

I have tried to watch AccuWeather many times, but still have not ever seen a forecast for Pittsburgh. I do not know why they would not show a large city like Pittsburgh, but show it for Islip NY. This is completely worthless. The last time I had a Comcast sales rep stop by they offered to beat Verizon's price and pay the early termination fee. I have been a Fios customer for years, but it may be time to try to get that offer from Comcast.

Islip, NY is an airport where data is already gathered for the pilots and airport. Living on Long Island it is important to have local weather as in NYC the high rise bldgs effort the city weather. Long Island surrounded with water and low rise bldg has very different weather then New York City. I live on the south shore nearer to the city then Islip. My weather is closer to Farmingdale, NY (another airport)  The north shore has dillerent weather then south shore. South shore near Atlantic ocean and north shore on long island sound, protected by conn.

Cablevision had our Farmingdale weather via the weather channel all day long. on Verizon with the weather channel we had islip weather on channel 49, not best but much better then acuweather.

If Verizon understood that there are micro climates and cared about their customers. they would have show local weather to each individual local area. In these digital times this is easy to do using zip codes and computer software.

We should all demand to have our local weather on our TVs

Bring back the Weather Channel!

Apparently my area is expecting snow tonight. How much should I expect? No idea if I depend on this worhless weather widget or Accuweather. The wacky widget just says snow/rain. I guess its back to the fashion radio to find out or just stick my head out the window to see what its doing and hope for the best. Verizon is pathetic.

I would really like to see The Weather Channel returned as a channel choice to my FIOs cable TV package. TWC was replaced with AccuWeather, which doesn't have the same high quality of weather coverage. For example, TWC has Local on the 8s, which gives current weather and a 7-day forecast every 8 minutes including doplar radar. AccuWether doesn't give local weather regularly and doesn't have an in-depth local weather forecast like TWC. Please return TWC to my FIOs TV cable choices. I really viewed TWC a lot. AccuWeather doesn't have the same features that I came to rely on with TWC. Thank you

I am extremely disappointed Verizon's action to replace TWC. The substitution in NO WAY compares to the quality of TWC. Do I need to switch to Comcast to get the service?

I agree. TWC is way better than Accuweather. I can't get localized weather anymore. Verizon stupidly cancelled TWC after the worst winter on the east coast in decades., and gave a bunch of lame excuses why it did so.

So there's a winter storm advisor, and we have no Weather Channel to track it on.  Thanks (not) Verizon.  Why should I renew my contract when what I need isn't there any longer?

Since I cannot get the ear of verizon management on this topic of non renewall of the weather channel,  I am going to Cox Cable...where it still exists and my NEW billing will definately be less!!

No warning,  no discussion, no way will I stay with a service that makes decisions that affect my household without any WARNING!!!

Bad Business practice.

LONG TIME FIOS customer!!    SeeYA

I will be canceling Verizon Fios if they do not place the Weather channel back in the line up.  I pay my bills, so should Verizon. Bring the Weather Channel and Weather Scan Back.

Please bring back the Weather Channel. Your supplied "Alternative" methods for accurate weather infomation are lame at best.

We always depended on the local radar on channel 49 (even though standard definition) because it was the quickest way to know where the rough weather is or is heading. No waiting for infomation about NY City or commercials!!!!

I'll make you a deal --- I will trade you ALL of my hispanic channels for the weather channel and the local redar.
