I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I agree! The weather channel was my go to channel. Accuweather doesn't give me the information that I need when I need it. Plus I loved watching some of the Weather Channel shows.
Please bring back the weather channel!!!!

We couldn't agree more. The ACCU Weather reporters lack the in depth experience of the meterologists on the Weather Channel. I am angry with Verizon cancelling The Weather Channel with no warning to either us or them. My husband and I no longer use FIOS TV to get our weather news. BRING BACK OUR WEATHER CHANNEL.

I want my weather channel back! Accuweather is a joke. I do not care what the weather is in another state, if the tornado clouds are forming around my area!! Hope that during the Spring storms ahead, I do not need quick weather alerts provided by weather channel and the local weather radar(Ch#49). I suggest a quick resolve of the contract with these channels, as it is a "safety issue".

I cannot remember the last time I took the time to voice my concerns regarding a programing change. I cannot believe FIOS has removed the TWC from the lineup. I hope to see it back in the channel line up soon. I specifically purchased FIOS because TWC was in the line-up. I will be shopping around for a new provider if this situation is not rectified. With a TV Internet bill as high as mine, I am sure I can find a better deal that includes TWC. That is all that is needed to put the remote down and shop for a new provider. Come on FIOS get your head out off your rear and get TWC back on NOW!

Your replacement for the Weather Channel is inferior. With what you charge residential subscribers, we have a right to expect good weather info. BRING BACK THE WEATHER CHANNEL!!

We don't know why Verizon would not renew their agreement with the Weather Channel. If they need the finances then they should get rid of some of those shopping network channels. The Weather Channel is vital to our families well being. It helps keep us informed on what the weather is doing not only in our area but the areas that our extended family live in. Especially when the weather is extremely volatile. The acu weather or weather bug widget is the worst weather information channels that they have provided. This is the 3rd channel that our family watches that they have gotten rid of. Our family is on a fixed income and when our contract comes up for renewal in November we will have to choose how important Verizon's services are to us. Verizon charges an astronomical price and then we still don't get channels that everyone should get. We are very disappointed in Verizon and have started the process of looking either for another provider or to just get rid their services all together and save our money for food and gas.

We have been with Verizon for six years. Triple package, TV, phone, and internet. But dropping the weather channel is too much and we plan to make a change if Verizon does not add it back. Accuweather and the useless Weather bug app are just that, useless. Who wants to set thru 1 hour of weather reporting around the rest of the country. 90 percent of the time the TV is on, it is tuned into the Weather Channel. It is the first thing my family looks at when we wake up to decide what we need to wear that day and what to expect. It is the last thing we look at before going to bed to plan the next day.
NO CHANNEL beats the Weather Channel during bad weather, thunder storms, or the spring tornadoes. The Weather Channel gives us the direct storm path as wells as specific times to expect hail, high winds, etc.
For me and my family this is a SAFETY issue. And I will change providers if this isn't correct in a couple of weeks.
THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER OPTIONS THAT DO CARRY THE WEATHER CHANNEL.

I was amazed that my favorite channel could just be cancelled with no notice and no input from the people paying the bill!
No news 12, no weather channel and accuweather is terrible. It's not bad enough that we are charged for things we do not order amd cannot get a refund, it's not bad enough that the customer service is horrible ( in spite of the surveys I see and hear) ir's not bad enough that their service is super expensive but now this! I guess they think we are stupid and maybe we are for having been customers of verizon for so long and lletting them get away with eveything they do.
WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT? ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS- we need local weather- I also miss news 12 that I had with comcast. Let's rebel.

I am disappointed by Verizon Fios dropping the Weather Channel. I agree that it has a lot of non-weather shows which is annoying. However, the level of weather reporting in unequaled. I really like the AM Weather show, as well. AccuWeather just is not the same caliber. I think that Verizon should enter into negotiations with the Weather Channel about their line-up and negotiate a better service for its customers - not just drop it altogether. If Verizon starts pushing their customers to watch their TV shoes on the internet - there will be no reason to have Verizon Fios. It is already expensive, cutting popular channels is no way to retain customers

I want to express my extreme displeasure with the decision to eliminate The Weather Channel from the FiOS television line-up. The substitution of AccuWeather is unsatisfactory. AccuWeather does not have key elements offered by The Weather Channel; specifically, the lack of detailed local forecasts (e.g., “Local on the 8’s”), on-site field reporting to get a more detailed, up-close experience of weather impacting particular cities, and local severe weather alerts and continuous weather reporting as provided on WeatherScan (Channel 49). The AccuBug Widget is inferior in all regards, requiring multiple key entries to reach desired information. Additionally, AccuWeather has lesser quality on camera personnel and the graphics presented do not employ state-of-the-art technology making for a very amateurish broadcast.
Given the cost to subscribe to Verizon FiOS, The Weather Channel should be included in its channel selection. The Weather Channel provides vital public safety information pertaining to weather conditions that are not available via other sources, especially with the same professionalism and caliber of broadcasting. Without The Weather Channel being offered by FiOS, Verizon is doing a significant disservice impacting the safety and well-being of its customers.

I've been a Fios cystine for years, and I'm very disappointed in your companies actions to remove the Weather Channel. No warning, no notice and we did not have the right to fight for one of my favorite channels!!! This channel gave me and I'm sure so much information on Sandy. If it wasn't for the Weather Channel during this horrendous storm my family wouldn't be alive since we live in Staten Island and lost things, but not my family. The weather channel have been there for every terrible storm and gave helped us get through all of them!! How dare your company take away this great channel, and the great people that put themselves through danger so we would know what we were in for? I pay a lot of money for Fios and I am thinking of leaving your company not just because you got rid of the weather channel you gave us no choice to fight for it. For all the money that I pay you, you work for me and I am very dissatisfied with the rates that go up all the time and then you take away a landmark of television. Same on you!!! Did you watch your new channel? It stinks I personally will not watch it bring back the weather channel! I've read everyone's comments they are not happy either. You make this decision without caring about your customer i for one do not want to be a part of a company that does not think about their customers!!! Keep raising our bills and get rid of the channels we love and see our many you will lose! Watch the weather (whatever it is) and see just how we all feel!!! Bring back the Weather Channels for your good paying customers!!! Disappointed!!! Here's my real name because hm not afraid of my comments and what I pay for. {edited for privacy}customer for 8 years!!!!

Well, it has been several weeks since Verizon suddenly and unexpectly dropped TWC. I thought I would give it a chance and I did. I want TWC back ! The excuse from Verizon was that people get their weather from the internet. That is lame. Why did you put Accuweather on? They have a website that people can check. We also get the news, sports, etc from the internet too.
I am a public servent that has to work during snow events. I relied on TWC to give me accurate forcasts so I could uderstand the conditons and prepare to work the long hours to ensure the roads were safe for people to drive on.
Furthermore, TWC was more then just weather. There were educational progaramming such as Secret of the Earth and When Weather Made History. Dropping TWC was a stupid decison. Why didn't don't you lower my bill and drop worthless channels like MTV.
I what TWC back.

Never comment on things but I have just cancelled my service with fios. I am going to another provider that will show what I want. I get more channels, same internet speed, better online services and THE TWC. I even get a gift card. The CS rep asked why I was cancelling and said b/c of TWC and she said did I try the weather bug app. I was like.. have you tried the app and seen how poor it is. I have been a fios customer since they offered service in my area. Don't like to switch but Verizon you made me!!!!

Where is the Weather Channel?
What ever that crap you have given us is totally useless to anyone in the Baltimore area. All I see is weather for every other place but where I live. I contracted with Verizon for service that included the Weather Channel and as far as I am concerned you broke the contract. I will be leaving this system as soon as I can. I am paying $200.00 a month and expect what I contracted for; thank god you’re not the only game in town any longer.

It's unfortunate that the Weather Channel/WeatherScan have been removed from the lineup. WeatherScan in particular was on a great deal in my house, either just as background and to get a glance at what the weather would be like, or when it looked like something nasty was headed our way, WeatherScan was the first thing to go up. Sure, my family has a number of smartphones and computers, but the TV was the easiest way to get the information and stay updated on the conditions. No need to keep refreshing a webpage or an app while draining batteries.
I tried giving AccuWeather a fair shot, and it's just not cutting it. Aside from the video feed blacking out a number of times, the audio going out of sync/out completely, it just takes entirely too long to cycle back to your local area's weather forecast. And where WeatherScan came in handy, displaying NWS alerts along the bottom for your area, AccuWeather falls short (Now I could be proven wrong, but during our last winter storm, there was no advisory or watch/warning displayed on screen).
Verizon makes somewhat of a point when saying many more people use technology such as computers and smartphones to get weather instead of TV. But if that's the case, why pay AccuWeather at all for a network if it's something we don't need? Plus, TWC isn't just a forecast over and over (though some want it to be) - it's also a niche channel for those interested in weather-related topics (and some other topics, too). I personally hope it comes back - I've always been very interested in the weather since I was a kid, and the way this was handled upsets me as a customer. But I'll just go back to watching channels that Verizon feels it needs to carry for their incredible value, such as WACP, the 24-hour infomercial network... Don't know what I'd do if that went away!
