I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I agree.  Can't see LOCAL weather.  Have been watching for 40 minutes...it's all about the east coast.  I live in TEXAS.  I don't care what the weather is, in Richmond.  i want to know what is happening / going to happen here.  Stupid, stupid decision, without consulting their customer base. Stupid.

AccuWeather is a very poor substitute for TWC and the new weather bug is awful - it does not provide nearly as much or as detailed info as the prior bug.  Bring back TWC!

I am a meteorologist and I agree, bring back WeatherScan and The Weather Channel.  AccuWeather programming is boring and it provides exactly what Verizon said we could get from other sources. The Weather Channel provides in-depth analyses, on scene reporting and some SCIENCE. Weatherscan provided us our local weather whenever we needed it.  For rooms where we have the "dumb" box (i.e. the DCT700), there is no widget available on Ch 49, so in those rooms there is no local weather.

Here's another example of the uselessness of the weather widget. I turn the widget on this morning. It says Freezing Rain. OK, is it doing it now? Stick my head out the door and there's nothing yet. Will it occur later today? No idea by this limited information. So I turn to the trusty local radio station and they say it  will mostly stay south of us with only a slight chance of it occuring in our area. You could never get that with this wacky widget. Weatherscan would have told me this information upfront. Apparently Fios like us to turn off the TV and go back to radio for detailed weather information. That's OK,keep doing that and pretty soon Verizon will be out of the TV business.

I got the email below.  To quote SNL "Isn't that Special" (YES I am being sarcastic) (AccuWeather 119 Audio is terrible)  (Glad I re-newed) YES I am being sarcastic)

          Important FiOS TV Content Information

Dear Valued Verizon Customer,

Verizon’s agreements to carry The Weather Channel and Weather Scan have expired, and have not been renewed.  In today’s environment, customers are increasingly accessing weather information not only from their TV but from a variety of online sources and apps.  Verizon is therefore pleased to launch the new AccuWeather Network, which will be available on FiOS® TV on channel 119/619 (HD) and on our free FiOS Mobile App starting March 10, 2015.  Verizon will also provide the FiOS TV WeatherBug “widget” application, which features hyper-local weather, on FiOS TV channel 49. WeatherBug can also be launched by pressing the “widget” button on the FiOS TV remote.

Sincerely,

Your Verizon Team

Why was weather scan 49 taken away?  You make us take 400 channels we would never use, but take away one we do.  And you replace it with one (119?) that seems to be little more than an extended local commercial station. Who signs into a station that shows little more than commericials?  By the way, wasn't 119 and 619 the Weather Channel?  What happened to it?  The "Weather Widget" is clunky and more advertising.  Take away the 400 stations we could care less about and return the Weather Scan.  Very cheap of you.

Dear Verizon,

Due to the lack of the weather channel being cancelled, and my contract have expired, and have not been renewed in some time I will be shopping for a provider that acutally HAS a weather channel, and a NEWS12. I do not think we should use an "APP" to look at weather but a actual channel ON TV.

Sincerly,

Your soon to be Ex-Valued Verizon Customer

The change from the Weather Channel to Accuweather is like changing from providing gold too providing coal.  Although I'm still paying the same on my plan, this is a huge downgrade in your offerings.  The Weather Channel provided weather plus, and not just the amateur hour that appears on accuweather.

The change from the weather channel to accuweather is akin to the difference between the major leagues and the little league--Accuweather is amateurish, while the weather channel not only provided wieather but also provided an education in meterology and weather studies and offers other shows involving weather.  Verizon has seriously downgraded my service for the same price I was paying.  Does anyoone know if verizon competitors carry the weather channel?

ALL major providers carry the Weather Channel including Cox, Comcast, TWC, Brighthouse, DirectTV, Dish Network, and numerous other smaller outlets.  The only larget company NOT to have the Weather Channel is Verizon.

Bring back the Weather Channel!

Thanks for getting  rid of TWC!! It's made my decision easier to DROP VERIZON  and subscribe to COX at the end of my contract. Instead of doing away with all the mind less crap you provide ,you again lower the quality of programming !!

I agree.  I can't believe that they are dropping the Weather Channel.  My family watches this channel alot.  Poor decision by Verizon.

MORE CORPORATE AMERICA SHENANIGANS. MOST OF VERIZON'S CUSTOMERS  WILL SIMPLY GO ALONG WITH THE LOSS OF THE WEATHER CHANNEL. WHO IS WINNING DANCING WITH THE STARS IS MORE IMPORTANT. MOST OF COASTAL AMERICA IS GLUED TO  TWC   FOR SAFETY INFORMATION DURING WEATHER EVENTS. TWC HAS UNDOUBTEDLY SAVED LIVES OVER THE YEARS, BUT VERIZONS PROFIT MARGINS ARE MORE IMPORTANT , THAN THE SAFETY INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE WEATHER CHANNEL. UNLESS VERIZON REINSTATE TWC, I WILL BE SAYING GOODBYE TO ALL MY ACCOUNTS, TO THE TUNE OF $300 A MONTH. I AM TIRED OF BEING PUSHED AROUND BY CORPORATE BULLYING.

Glad to see someone else is paying as much as I am. And they have the nerve to remove TWC. Moving on to Comcast. They are cheaper anyway. AND they have TWC.

Agreed. Ridiculous to drop twc. everyone is also getting Netflix. Do they want to push us all from cable. We can do that.
