I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

Let me get this right, we get locked into a 2 year contract which we can not cancel without paying a penalty and verizon can change what we view at their discretion. Living on the water and being a boater the Weather Channel has been an important part of choosing a cable company. Since AcuWeather has been on the reception on that channel is poor and the weather is so generic that it is worthless to me. I guess I am lucky because my two year contract just expired and I am free to shop for another company.

Verizon got this one wrong. In this age, many people get information from multiple sources. I do. Sure, I get forecasts from other sources but they are local and only good for a day or so ahead. I have used The Weather Channel (TWC) for years to get the context of future weather movements so I had a sense of the uncertainties and the overall picture which I could use for travel and activity planning. I also got weather related news and images from TWC that were not carried elsewhere.
What Verizon published as its rationale makes little sense for replacing TWC with AccuWeather. Their argument is condescending and duplicitous. After all, they have put an inferior, lame, weather forecast product on the air in place of TWC. And they did this because people have other sources for weather forecasts?
Actually, this will certainly make me go to other weather forecast sources – like The Weather Channel on the Internet. It will not be nearly as good there but it will be far better than AccuWeather. I will bet nobody watches that thing…
Other TV providers and streaming video just became much more attractive!

I get an email from Verizon and it says "Verizon is therefore pleased to launch the new AccuWeather Network...."
Pleased??? PLEASED??? What, are they out of their minds? There's no way they could actually believe that load of crap that they're shoving us! I have to sit there and watch as they slowly scroll through the current conditions of 30 different cities! I'm better off if I hit 'record' and come back later and fast forward until they get to Providence. Unfortunately we signed up for a 2 year agreement 5 months ago. My wife wants to call Cox and see if they have a special deal that they sometimes run with a VISA card for a couple hundred bucks which helps to compensate people for early termination of their current provider. We left Cox for Verizon because I thought they were the lesser of 2 evils. If Verizon doesn't get the Weather Channel back soon we will as many others have done jump ship!

I am still angry about lossing the Weather channel and channel 49 local weather. I wrote a letter to Verizon corporate HQ 140 West Street,
New York, NY 10013
I suggest everyone send a letter snail mail. Then they can't ignore us.
Bring back TWC, I read that the weather channel had offered a lower price then the last contrat. Of course Acuweather is cheaper because it's not ready for prime time.

Good information - my letter will be mailed in the a.m. - We have had absolutely no response from FiOS - just canned answers from phone calls, etc. This is disgraceful.

Verizon, you need to bring back The Weather Channel. I like having ACCURATE AND TIMELY local weather. Having Accuweather is ridiculous..I do not care about weather in Phoeniz and I do not want to wait until Accuweather gets to the local weather. In addition, the WeatherBug is inaccurate and takes too long to bring up. I spend too much money each month for Accuweather and WeatherBug!!

I have been a fan of The Weather Channel since it started. I had two cable companies come into my neighborhood at the same time right after TWC started their business. One had TWC and the other did not. I chose that company ONLY because it carried The Weather Channel. So how do you think I will handle Verizon deciding for all of us to just drop TWC and put the useless Accuweather channel on instead. I don't care for the silly programming that TWC has started producing and I rarely watch any of them. However when it comes to doing the weather and storms and coverage of everything weather, TWC is the ONLY one that can do it right. I will be looking to change my TV and internet to someone else. This ticks me off enough that I think I'll drop my Verizon Wireless accounts as well. I've been with Verizon Wireless since they were C&P Telephone in the early 90's. I can't believe they just dropped it instead of negotiating lower costs. They don't care about their customers one bit. You should be ashamed Verizon!

To write a letter to the CEO (the address is from their Corporate HQ)
Lowell McAdam
1 Verizon Way
Basking Ridge, NJ 07920
They seem to be holding their ground, but are receiving many phone calls to register complaints. It's the best we can do for now.

SO, YOU YANKED OUT THE WEATHER CHANNEL FROM UNDER YOUR CUSTOMERS. NO WARNING THAT IT WAS GOING. DOES THAT MEAN ALL OF OUR BILLS WILL GO DOWN BECAUSE WE'RE NOT PAYING FOR THE WEATHER CHANNEL ANY LONGER? 🙂

This new AccuWeather channel sucks big time! Bring back the true Weather Channel, give the customers a credit for yanking the weather channel. There was no prior notification that the service was going to be yanked.
I hate this new AccuWeather

I wish Verizon FIOS will reconsider their poor choice in providing weather information to their customers. The new format on channel 119 is of poor quality and not very informative to my current location as in the past. The 'widget' solution on channel 49 is embarassing compared to what they had before. It is not easy nor convenient which is what most customers have come to expect. The Weather Channel provided more than just convenience in their weather updates. They also had top quality shows and personalities that are surely missed. I hope Verizon makes some postive changes in the near future as that will help me decide upon renewal of their services.

We are NOT happy with Verizon let alone the absence of AccuWeather! The Weather Channel is one of the most importanat reasons to have your service. On top of that you just sent out an advisory that we are also losing 3 college sports channels. Perhaps you don't get the idea that subscribers are looking for more access, not less.

Well, come on, Verizon, it's your turn to comment on this topic. More than that, it's your RESPONSIBILITY to respond to these complaints! I think the message is clear - the subscribers - YOUR subscribers want The Weather Channel back in the lineup. We don't care what you have to do to make this happen, just do it, or risk losing a pant load of people to providers who do carry TWC. My contract is up for renewal - won't be any trouble for me to make the switch.
