I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I also want the Weather Channel returned to the line up! The Accuweather and the WeatherBug are inferior replacements! The Local Weather Scan (channel 49) was a major asset and frequently used channel that provided accurate, LOCAL forecasts for my area, and allowed me to prepare for the day and week with reliable information. Aside from the forecasts, the Weather Channel offered informative and very interseting programs about the climate and environment that educated the viewer, as well as, entertained!

May I suggest that Verizon remove all the Spanish language and Chinese language channels from the general U.S. FiOS TV Plans and offer them exclusively through the foreign language packages! I speak various languages, but I pay for English broadcasts and find it ridiculous to have Verizon recently increase the number of foreign language channels to the general packages! Why should English speaking viewers have to pay for channels they will never use? Then you can resolve your issues with the Weather Channel and return it to the line up!

I am not aware that most of the foreign language channels were available without an extra fee.

Especially non Spanish channels.

I totally agree with you !!  Zowar1363  I have been complaining about the non-English channels for years to either have subtitled or delete them from my package

Accu Weather is a joke, quess I will be going to Comcast.  Why is it that signing a contract with Verizon only protects Verizon.  They can change the contract at will by droppin channels.  Verizon you should be ashamed of yourself.

You will probably find that Comcast has the same terms in their contract.

Accuweather only gives today's and Tomorrow's forecast and only for 1/6 of the country at a time, every half hour you get 30 seconds of local weather, don't blink you will miss it.

I wonder how they will cover tornado warnings, I saw something this morning when the showed a map of TX, LA, OK, MO, NM a 6 state area and showed and said there was severe weather but it was hard to tell if it was Dallas or Houston,  On a map they are real close to each other but if I lived there I wouldn't be happy as I would wonder were it is exactly.

Verizon says it is because EVERYONE gets their weather from the internet, well I know at least 10 of my 20 close friends who do NOT, a few don't even own computers or smart phones.  ALSO you could say the same about every channel, they all have internet presence!

So, Verizon says "EVERYONE" gets their weather from the internet?  Funny, I don't recall being ASKED by Verizon where I get my weather info.  All I know is that one day while getting ready for work, I turned on Ch 49 to see what type of weather I could expect and discovered that all the Weather Channel stations had been eliminated.  So for the next 20 min while getting ready to leave, I saw what could be expected in Newark, NJ, Dallas, TX, Harrisburg, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Buffalo, NY, Albany, NY, and Tampa, FL, but Baltimore, Columbia, Annapolis, Owings Mills, MD?  Nope.  I wonder how many of Verizon's competitors offer the Weather Channel?  I'm pretty sure most do.........I'm thinking it's time to switch.

I miss the Weather channel but no tthe current one.  I miss the one when you turned it on you got weather.  When they started going to shows I have no interest in, I stopped going to it.

When Weather channel first started, they were not perfect either but over the years they adapted.  I'm very happy to give AccuWeather a chance to grow. At least I know when I turn it on I'll get weather.

For all of you that want to watch the shows, why not petition the Weather channel to have a 2nd channel that contains the shows.  Imagine that, one for weather and one for shows.  Not rocket science.

When you turn  on Accuweather you get weather for other cities, not yours. The Weather Channel had the weather all the time on the bottom of the screen even during the shows you don't like. How could Accuweather start a channel without local weather all the time for your area? I have a feeling we will wait months for this.

Where i am in NY the weather channel supplies weather scan which just runs the local forecasts for about 8 local towns in the NYC and suburbs area, its just forecasts without any programs . I watch that to get the weather most of the time untill NOW that is!!! Now with accuweather i have to watch forecasts for wyoming and south florida and maine?????? what a bunch of buffalo chips??? aint it fios?

Verizon has made a long term business decision in dropping the weather channel. What is the long term plan to put all your employees on unemployment. Here on Staten Island many are still traumatized after Sandy Killed 30 + and everyone I've talked to is more concerned then EVER before about the weather. Verizon your timing could not have been any worse. The Weather Channel Personalities made people feel safe and assured that they would always be there for us. And that has been a great comfort to many people here. I can't even switch providers without a 30 day or more wait for installation. WHY, because they can't keep up with the demand from people dumping FIOS. GREAT BUSINESS PLAN VERIZON

Accuweather is horrible. Weatherbug is hard to see on a small TV You really should bring back the weather channel By the numbers 1500 post just here alone of people wanting ti switch at 200 per month. That is 300000 per month and that is what is known. You should bring it back.

TWC is going out the same way the sister channel MSNBC is going out.

If we can't get the Weather Channel back, can we at least get an interactive radar screen?  It would be nice to see if the rain is going north, south, east or west and how fast or slow it's moving.  Will I have time to stop by the store to get a few groceries or do I need to go straight home before the bad weather hits.

Again, a number of elderly folks do not have  iphones or computers and the TV is the only source of weather information they have.  DO they get penailized because they are not computer savy?? So much for being compasionate towards the elderly.  Someone at Verizon needs to take an "Older Adult Sensitivity Training Course."

I do not agree with Verizon's Statement. I have access to many different weather apps, but prefer watching The Weather Channel especially during severe weather forcasts. The Weather Channel provides regional updates and analysis for those in the path of severe weather. Potential severe weather moving into our region tonight, I am watching Accu Weather forcasts for California, Atlanta, etc. Not at all the same. Verizon, PLEASE stop the games and bring back The Weather Channel now.

So on a whim, I searched out the Comcast Xfinity TV forum.

They have a thread going about how people are complaining that their Weather scan no longer shows their local weather but for a major city up to 50 miles away.

Here is Comcast reply:

We regularly examine our programs and channels in an effort to bring our customers the best overall entertainment choices and the content they want the most.  As a result, Comcast must sometimes remove channels that have lower viewership to make space for higher valued, more popular channels and to keep our channel line-ups consistent across markets.

We have also found that most of our customers access this information through their mobile devices and the internet.

Sound familiar?

I agree with WhyNoWC. The other night I received a severe weather alert on my phone (tornado warning). Accuweather was showing the weather in a city 70 miles SE of us and unaffected by the storm. The weather apps were useless. Our local weather station gave information on the immediate area but I couldn't see the big picture as presented by The Weather Channel.

I told DH this is the hill I'm going to die on. We'll soon be moving and I will NOT sign up with Verizon UNLESS they bring back Weather Channel and Weather Scan.

With every passing day I become more and more angry with Verizon.  When it is clear that customers want the Weather Channel back, it falls on deaf ears.  Our contract expires in a few months and things will change!  I never thought I would be going back to Charter, but....  They know people really don't have many options when it comes to television programming and they are taking short gains over customer satifaction.  They may believe that we will either accept their programming lineup or forget their mistakes.  But this has gone on way too long.  With tornados and tropical storms affecting millions you would think they would resolve this issue and BRING BACK THE WEATHER CHANNEL.
