I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

It's awfully quiet in our house without TWC and WeatherScan.
Verizon, there is NO substitute for these channels and NO excuse for ignoring your customers. Get back to work and restart negotiations!
My husband and I have agreed that if these channels aren't restored soon, Verizon is FIRED!

Agree with everyone else, Fios dropping The Weather Channel is pathetic and cheap. I have purposefully not re upped my contract with Verizon so that I don't get caught with service that I am not happy with for two years.
AS SOON AS I FIND AN ALTERNATE PROVIDER I WILL BE CHANGING MY SERVICE. I WILL ALSO MAKE SURE AND LET EVERYONE THAT I INTERACT WITH KNOW THAT VERIZON SERVICE CONTINUES TO DECLINE!

Hello Forum users,
Some assistance please.
I am ready to switch from Verizon to another provider because of their cancellation of The Weather Channel. Working outdoors and having family throughout the country, I rely on the comprehensive nature of The Weather Channel's coverage.
AccuWeather is a pathetic excuse for a weather information source. Their weather readers do just that, read a teleprompter that has a shallow description of the radar picture. No information on developing severe weather and no information on current weather events.
So here is my question...
Who do you all recommend for TV services? I need The Weather Channel and would like a comprehensive news package. I would appreciate any advice.

I totally agree with EVERY post. We went on vacation, came back and The Weather Channel was gone! We loved watching the shows and the weather. When our contract is up we will be moving to another carrier.

Miss Weather Channel too. Accuweather isn't nearly as good. Well it actually stinks. Not sure why I have to wait to see the local weather (live around NY City in New Jersey). Yesterday, it took nearly 30 mins for them to play the extended forecast on the crawl for New York City. Over the past couple of weeks, only saw one NJ town (Parsippany) on the crawl for just one day. Well, hopefully Verizon will listen to its customers this time and bring it back. Really miss all of TWC people and some of their shows. If Verizon doesn't fix this, I will go back to Comcast when contract expires. Geez Verizon, way to listen to your customers.

The Accu Weather channel does not provide real time information for my area. The Weather channel always provided Local on the 8 information for my city. Even the Weather Bug on channel 49 shows a city not even in my state for area code 10312 in Staten Island, New York. Why did Verizon not provide a means for it's subscribers to request that the Weather Channel renew it's contract. With the weather patterns we have been experiencing this year, local accurate information is extreemly necessary.

Their Newest Dribble http://www.verizon.com/support/residential/content.htm These people actually believe the stuff they are shoveling. Hey Verizon, we are not stupid, and I sure as heck don't believe a word of this stuff. You want to make us feel special and VALUED as you say. Then start listening. WE WANT TWC BACK. All the other providers accepted the new contract VERIZON was the only company to back out. Like the one spoiled child, are you sitting in a corner now holding your breath. Come on wake up and fire the people responsible for this before they do it again. Your reputation depends on it.

The Weather Channel - don't bother bringing it back. It is misnamed. More properly, it should be called "The Commercials Channel". I stopped using it years ago because it became unwatchable ... especially as one observes commercials streaming end-on-end while at the same time recognizing the main content of their network - the weather - is essentially free. No Hollywood stars, no scripts, no writers. Talk about gouging.
Weather Scan - on the other hand - was far more useful, especially with up-to-the-minute radar imaging. I relied on that quite a bit.
AccuWeather is not very good. I use it only because I have no choice. VZ should be embarrassed to beat this drum so loudly as it makes VZ look like it is enamored with mediocrity. But, I suppose, a day may come when it will be critically important for me to sit and wait for the "scroll" to come around so I will know what the temperature will be at 7 PM in LA.

Iam with you on that post, TWC has got to inflated with programs, commercials, etc.
I watch weathernation if I need to know about the weather and there are so many other ways to get info on the weather. TWC has got to big and money hungry is to why they run all those programs and commericals. I DONT MISS TWC AT ALL.

I too hate AccuWeather and find it to be less than quality programming on Verizon's long list of decreasing valuable services. I will be cancelling my services within the next few months. Taking off TWC is the straw that broke the camel's back. Good riddance Verizon.

The Weather Channel is also one of my more watched channels. The weather scan because it provides detailed weather forcasts and analysis plus warnings. During hurricane sandy leading up to it, The Weather Channel was one of the first to forcast days in advance the impending disaster and let people know what we were in for and then report the conditions and warnings as it worsened untill the services went out with the 12 ft storm surge where i am. Ive called and complained and harassed them, and you get the same double speak! I just renewed too 3 months ago and got a very good package but who cars if they dont supply my favoritechannel. I beleive they have voided the contract by not supplying one of the top watched cable channels in the country and as such I am not responsible for any ETF> I get a feeling they mayintend to either not bring it back at all or make us wait months to make TWC sweat. but TWC has NAtional coverage on virtually every provider so ultimately fios will suffer> I would suggest that everyone dissatisfied with this fios decision, call customer service, choose option 4 to cancel and then give the CSR an ultimatum, that you will cancel if the weather channels not back by whatever day! LEt them n\know how much you want this channel! Mt local cable company will cover the ETF if I switch to them, Although i will not pay the etf untill They have reimbursed me for them on an invoice. I will be with fios for a few more days unless i have tTWC back the cable installation is already sceduled. FIGHT THEM people!

When I renewed my two-year contract, it was with the understanding that I would continue to receive top-quality programming via FiOS TV. With Verizon's unilateral decision to remove The Weather Channel from FiOS TV, I believe Verizon is now in violation of said two year contract, and I hereby accuse Verizon of violating the terms of same. I will continue to believe Verizon to be in violation of my contract to provide me with top-quality TV service until The Weather Channel is restored to the FiOS TV lineup.

Sorry to say Fios contracts clearly states they have a right to change programing. So there is no violation on their part.
However I wish FIOS would read and understand how unhappy so many people are. I never seen so many posts on one subject.

Ok I've waited long enough since my last posting with no response from Verizon....plus after reading all of these upset folks about losing the Weather Channel I've finally decided to do something about it. I just placed my order with Comcast for a comparable package with a little more speed 105 mbps vs. 75 mbps, I will be cancelling my service once they can give me a firm date to do the install..... it appears that they've been a little busy lately, I wonder why? As a Verizon shareholder this was very hard decision to make especially since I had FIOS for over 6+ years now and I was happy with their service until now. Once all of my families phone contracts are up, I will be moving to another provider.
Verizon management you are probably going to get an earful in the next Shareholder's meeting!

I had Comcast installed Monday. It is good to have the Weather Channel and Weatherscan back. It is just in time for the severe weather this week. I also have the local forcast on the HD Weather Channel, which I never had with FIOS.

I'm giving FIOS until June to realize theyve made a mistake, that will also drop my cancellation fess under $100, and then I'm gone if the Weather Channel isnt back. So glad I dont have a verizon cell phone to change out. I used to recommend FIOS all the time my friends and family, I guess now it will be Comcast and AT&T.
