I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

We had come to depend on the "Local on the 8's" service on The Weather Channel. It was handy, predictable and always accurate. Now whenever I look at AccuWeather, they're on the East coast. Fine if you're in Boston, not so fine if you're in Texas like we are. The "local" weather when they deign to show it is truncated, innacurate and useless. We cannot even predict at what time we can expect local weather. This makes the service totally useless.
Like many others here, we will be looking for a provider that carries TWC. We pay over $200 for our FIOS service and expect more than the crappy coverage that AccuWeather provides. I simply can't believe that the FIOS management can consider this equivalent service.

My contract is almost up and unless Verizon agrees that giving up TWC was a HUGE mistake I will switch to Cablevision

The other day I checked Ch. 119 in the forlorn hope that Verizon did the smart thing and brought the Weather Channel back. What it showed was AccuWeather in a complete blackout. My heart soared: Perhaps they're in the midst of transitioning back! My brief bubble burst when I consulted the internet and found that negotiations have apparently ceased.
So, in a matter of weeks, Verizon has gone from The Weather Channel to a completely blank screen. Dozens and dozens of niche sports channels--nobody could possibly watch all of them and most of us probably don't watch ANY of them--but try to watch weather and we're faced with A BLANK SCREEN? Weather is not "niche," it's a necessity. This is simply an outrage. An extremely expensive outrage. And an extremely expensive mistake on Verizon's part.

The weather channel had improved over time until it was one of the few channels I watched. This Acuweather channel does nothing but allow Verizon to check the boxthat they simply replaced one channel with another. But it isn't an equal exchange. Acuweather is just showing us a weather map mostly in an area unrelated to where we live. It isn't even interesting when it is for our area. I am looking for alternatives to verizon. This is what happens when a company has a near monopoly.
I can drop my home phone line now and deny them that revenue. We never use it and the only calls we do receive are from "Unavailable" callers trying to colloect money. In the meantime I am looking for other options for my televison service provider.
What makes things worse is that they have the weather channel on the main screen at the gym I go to as a constant reminder of what I am missing. When they take your favorite station and one of the few that I watch, what is the point of buying the service.
And don't forget why this happened. There is one Vice-President at Verizon who is trying to improve his operating margins. Well I am not going to help him. I'm on my way out....

Attention Verizon!!! Enough is enough. I don't have any problem paying to break my contract, although Verizon is not performing in good faith to meet expectations. Bring back The Weather Channel. Heck, I'll pay you another $1 a month. Stop being arrogant and thumbing your nose at us, your paying customers!

Here's what I'm doing first thing tomorrow morning: I'm going to call Verizon and drop all my premium channels! I'll add them back the day that Weather Channel is back in the line-up. Per The Weather Channel, they offered a final proposal that was cheaper than the prior contract with Verizon, but Verizon dropped the channel anyway.
Seems like Verizon thinks they have a monopoly on what I see on my TV. They seem to forget that people like me have a Roku box, an Amazon Fire Stick, Netflix, Hulu, Sling, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and of course, I could always switch to one of the other two carriers in my area.

Last night in the New Castle County, Delaware area we had a severe thunderstorm, flash flood, and tornado Watch until Midnight. I did not know some of this (T-Storms/Tornado Watch) till I heard the distant thunder. I look at accuweather and nothing no scrolling bar saying storms are coming or that there is a tornado watch, but I could see the weather in Los Angelos and Pittsburg(useless). Checked Weatherbug widget and nothing. Then I go downstairs to find the iPad to look at weatherchannels app, and I can now see storms coming and tornado watch. I used to be able to turn to Channel 49 and see the red alert bar with the up to the minute NWS alerts and storm paths with times they will be at certain towns. Your moving to accuweather seems to just be a cheap move, or a childish move, and you never gave a valid reason as to why you made the decision to remove them, just some generic statement that said what you did but not why you did it, at least not a logical reason. Seriously thinking, $110.00 penalty for me to leave early, Comcast offers a gift card to come on board that would negate that charge, and I pay you over $3,000 a year for service, and have been with you for nearl 10 years, I don't jump around, so do you want to lose another $30,000 in business over the next several years?

Just wanted to register my complaint about dropping The Weather Channel. While Verizon might think everyone accesses it on their phones, they are incorrect. Every member of our family, young and old, immediately goes to The Weather Channel on our TV whenever an impending weather event is predicted. We recently had an intense thunderstorm system move thru the DC area, and we all turned to the TV for more information and couldn't figure out where to get info. Yes, I know AccuWeather is there, but it's terrible. Less professional and people moving on and off the screen - it PALES in comparision to The Weather Channel. This is a decision that seriously makes us want to rethink our television watching service.

Just got off the phone with a very pleasant Verizon representative. Sadly there are No talks regarding Verizon bringing back TWC. Kinda sad hearing that bit of news. They do say they have other features that Fios offer that others don't. Anyone know what they are please let me know. Makes me realize that we are just a number to them and not anything more.

I work in the Emergency Management field, with Florida hurricanes a high priority. I have tried to use Accuweather for the information I need. However, this program has far too many issues. It does not play on older tube TVs, you get grayscreen. Not much help for radar maps there. Also, Accuweather does nothing but read NWS weather bulletins. We need the informational segments provided by Weather Channel. The weather aware training segments are important to people. The real time, situational reports are important to everyone in a landfall area. EMs rely heavily on the real time status of the storm, on location, and the weather modeling and predictions sotrm landfall and future forecasts. I cannot imagine this passive bulletin posting Accuweather app to be of much, or any, help during a mass evacuation and landfall of a long overdue hurricane in south Florida. What mass media channel will people have to watch for accurate and real time information? CNN? Please bring The Weather Channel back before June 1, the beginning of Hurricane Season for the Gulf States and Eastern Seaboard. Our goal is to protect lives, and Weather Channel has always been there to help us do just that.

We are extremely disappointed that the Weather Channel Disappeared. Your replacement is a joke. You might
have to wait several hours to get to a city near you. It is a complete waste of time and we hate it. We now have to turn off the television and go to our computers and try to find weather. This is ridiculous. Tell me who I can scream at because
I am furious. The hurricane season is around the corner and YOU IN YOUR GREEDY WAYS, have taken away the Weather Channel. Accuweather is awful. This WILL BACKFIRE if you don't fix this. Please help. We will change providers if this doesn't change. Thank you. 'Suffering in Florida'.

I hate this Accu Weather - there is nothing to like about it. I see that Verizon didn't change the rates for dropping the Weather Channel - hate the fact that I can't just tune into the local weather forecast like I use to - defilnitely will change come December when my contract comes up

Please reconsider negotiating with The Weather Channel
AccuWeather is behind the times and spends most of each hour showing the East Coast (I am in the Central South).
The AccuWeather presentation looks like their studio is located in someone's garage.
I have been a long time FIOS customer, and, believe me, I will be checking out other options based upon the loss of this station.

I couldn't agree more! There is currently very severe weather occuring in the Mid-West and I am suffering through 5 talking heads talking about how nice it is in the northeast.
Settle your differences and bring back the weather channel. Accuweather is really lame.

I WANT THE WEATHER CHANNEL RE-NEWED!!!!!!!!! Every month my Verizon bill goes up and yet we have lost at least six channels, without notice. They seem to have a total disregard for their customers. I have the basic cable pkg, basic phone and internet, nothing fancy and my bill is almost $200.00 per month. This has gotten so out of hand. If the weather channel is not re-newed shortly I will definitely be changing providers and saving some money to boot. Maybe if enough people change providers they will finally start taking the customer's into consideration.

Today there was major tornado activity and large hail in the midwest and AccuWeather did not report on it, even as it was happening. Instead AccuWeather was mainly reporting on New York and Washington DC weather. Most of the weather reporting on AccuWeather is about the northeast US...what about the rest of us! CNN had breaking weather news today about the tornado to the point of telling people in the path of the tornado to find a safe place. CNN was actually tracking the storm and breaking in between news items. When I flipped back to AccuWeather to see what they were reporting...they were still talking about New York and DC and their forecast for tomorrow. The Weather Channel NEEDS to be brought back. AccuWeather is just plain silly (have any of you Verizon folks ever actually watched the AccuWeather channel???). TWC tracks storms down to street level and reports moment to moment during dangerous storms. They can see the debris field that a tornado is producing and pin point the exact spot where the storm is hitting. Not everyone wants to find the weather on their phone or online. (We still have flip phones...I know, I know, but I'm not getting a smart phone just because Verizon dropped TWC) We just want to turn the TV on to THE WEATHER CHANNEL and see if we are on the path of the storm. Many from the older generation 60+ do not use a smart phone or a computer to get the weather, they want to turn on TWC. It will be interesting to see what happens when the southern states get hit by the next Hurricane and people turn to AccuWeather for detailed hurricane information to find that AccuWeather is reporting on the "mild weather day in New York". We need SERIOUS weather reporting for these big storms, otherwise there is much more risk of people getting injured or worse. It has NOT been easy to get our AccuWeather/Weather Channel concerns directed to anyone at Verizon. To sign up for this message board was not especially easy, and customer service via phone only suggest using your smart phone, computer, or use the weather bug widget to get weather if AccuWeather is not good enough. Those tools do not compare to TWC. I don't know if this note will get to anyone that will take these concerns seriously. It seems that folks have given up or haven't been able to complain about the removal of TWC. But the way I see it, Verizon has not made it easy to communicate with these customer concerns.
