AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

That's gonna be my avenue to watch TWC as an interim solution. It's a paid subscription ($20/month) but one less cable box will pay for the service.

This is not correct, either. Dish just signed a multi-year deal with TWC, including bringing it to Sling TV sometime before July.

When did I ever say they WERE dropping it? Never. I said they were thinking about it. Yes Dish backed off and resigned, but they were indeed considering dropping it before they backed off and terms were met. It DOES NOT mean that other providers won't drop it or are considering it. There are TONS of providers out there. People act like Verizon is the ONLY provider to ever drop channels when they aren't.

The biggest Difference between Dish and Verizon is Dish negotiated in good faith. Verizon, The Bullies That they are, did not. And at present all the major providers, except Verizon, have signed new contract's with The Weather Channel. Verizon has already lost more customer's then it cost for them to carry TWC. And now their "Skinny" Bundles are being challenged in court. Why Verizon, who was gaining in popularity, would choose to have all this negativity is beyond me.

How do you know they did not bargain in good faith?
BTW, there is more to the cost of carrying a channel than just the subscriber fee, so don't go by TWCs claim of it only being .14/user.
Lots of people have been asking for a la carte. Verizon tried to go down that path. And the content providers (who have been holing it up for years) are striking back. How can you blame Verizon for that?

A good faith negotiation is when both parties seriously listen to each other and work out their differences. Verizon had no intention of signing a new deal with TWC otherwise it would be a done deal Today. They still can if they choose, TWC is ready and willing. As of today every major provider from Frontier to Comcast, Dish, Direct TV, COX and even the lowest of the low Time Warner have new contracts with TWC. Verizon who claims to be the best is the only hold out. WHY?
Second the 14 cents per household number did not come from TWC. It was printed in The Richmond quoting industry experts as the TOTAL all costs considered cost to Verizon.
As for this a la carte thing, do you really believe Verizon is looking to save you money. Give me a break, they will hook people with a supper low price and then up we go just like FIOS. My triple play started at $99.00 and is now over $250.00. And how are customers supposed to choose, unless you have watched a channel, how do you know if you like it or not. Verizon was moving in the right direction, Customer Service Was Improving, I even bought their stock and now the Verizon of 10 years ago has again reared it's ugly head all that good work down the tubes.

This has gone well beyond that we want The Weather Channel Back. Verizon has hit a new low (As if they can go any lower) Now they are restricting our right to free speech by blocking anyone that comments on TWC at their Facebook page. Hey Verizon this is America and the right to free speech is guaranteed by the Constitution. I'm a paying customer and I'm blocked from posting on The FIOS Facebook page. You have truly sunk to a new low, if you don't want to listen to the complaints then bring back TWC Simple. I don't know what TWC did that has you so angry, but, get over it and work it out. Enough is Enough.

FYI, the Constitution prevents the government from abridging our right to free speech. Private individuals and organizations can control speech on their property as much as they want. This is a common misconception about the 1st amendment.
For example, you can't stand in my front yard and make any speech you want, but you can stand in public park. My yard is private property and I get to decide what happens in it.
Verizon's Facebook page and these forums are considered "private property" and Verizon get's to decide what speech is allowed here. If you want to make comments that Verizon doesn't allow, do it on private property that allows such speech. TWC's Facebook page is probably a friendly place for your comments.
If you want to send a message to Verizon that they will likley pay attention to, cancel your service and tell them why. Any other approach will most likely have little effect on Verizon.
Good Luck.

I cancelled my service and when I told them why, they started to read from a script which says you can get weather info from other sources etc. That is when I interrupted them to stop hearing this nonsense. If everyone who complained here cancelled their service, then they would understand.

While I would love to get the Weather Channel Back, I'm not going to cancel my service over it.

I've had my service for 2 weeks and now don't have The Weather Channel. Just at the time where we're getting tornados, severe thunderstorms, and flooding. Thanks, Verizon.

Please, someone tell me how we can get the Weather Channel back.. I'm seriously thinking about switching to Comcast. Acuweather is so minimal, so poor it defies understanding how/why Verizon keeps this service.

If you live in TX, FL, or CA, then you may be in luck, when we are sold to Frontier next month we may get the Weather Channel back, based on looking at Frontier's existing Fort Wayne, IN FiOS TV lineup. On the other hand, maybe not, maybe Frontier will just stick with Accuweather since we already have it.
If you are located somewhere else, I wouldn't hold my breath, apparently Verizon is satisfied with the contract they have with Accuweather. I really don't think there is much you can do to convince Verizon to change, and if you do switch to Comcast, unless you make absolutely sure some Verizon FiOS executive knows exactly why you are switching, your switching will mean nothing regarding Verizon possibly switching back to the Weather Channel.
Just my opinion of course.....

I think it is about time that we get Re-imbursed for Programing being dropped that we did not agree to. We were not given any choice at all, which is a contract Breach on Verizons part. We had paid for the Weather channel, not the garbage you have given us, I can tell the weather better just by looking out the window, Very very sad .

Contract clearly allows them (and most cable companies) to add and delete content.
This is done in an effort to control costs. If you are under contract, your price is set. If content providers raise rates while you are under contract, Verizon's costs go up, but not income.
Other model would be to contract for specific content which would mean your bill could change monthly.

I suggest you actually read your contract. By your statement it's obvious you have not. They are not in breach, they can add or subtract channels per the contract YOU agreed to when you signed on.
ALL cable companies add and drop channels all the time.

This is my notice to you.....When my contract is up i am gone......
Here I sit with Hurricane Matthew looming....All I have is my local weather, which is for Baltimore and DC, however I liive in Norfolk. ACCU weather is talking about the weather out west and showing commercials about some new fangled belt....
Wait...a 30 sec radar picture of Matthew shows up, however when i look at it, it says the last 6 hours but it is still 1HOUR behind....now the channel goes to an infomericial about a frying pan....
Sorry, my property and my families safety (here and in florida) are to important to me to worry about if my pants will stay up and if it's raining out west or in Washington DC while my food won't stick to my new frying pan....
you can try and contact me if you want, however unless you want to bring back the REAL weather channel, i guess i will be switching to COX or DIRECT TV, hell maybe ATT to then i can get the bonus of NFL Ticket...

Nope. Can't accesss the live stream. Got it for a few hours on Friday, but now it wants me to sign in via my provider - and Verizon is not a provider, so no access to the live stream. (never could get the live stream before the storm - it always said I had to sign in via my internet provider - again Verizon is NOT a provider of TWC)

My mother just canceled Verizon for Comcast solely to get the Weather Channel. I will be doing the same if they do not return the Weather Channel to the lineup. While we were on vacation we watched the Weather Channel continuously on COX cable. We enjoy their programming, but feel the weather coverage is essential. Accuweather is a worthless substitute. I am still stunned they made such a horrible business decision such as this. The Weather Channel is a necessity.

BRING BACK TWC!!!! No offense, but AccuWeather is WEAK. TWC is actually worth watching for its deep weather analysis. AccuW just gives you the 1-2-3. It's AccuWeather that forces people to check other sources for weather, NOT TWC. I watch TWC at my work on Optimum. It's pathetic that when I go home I can't see something as simple as TWC and instead get fed an inferior channel. And I can name 150 other channels to dump in favor of TWC. Please, FioS, get your priorities straight!!
