I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

Verizon Fios is the only provider that does not carry the Weather Channel. It is the only provider that caries the Accuweather Channel.

Mostly true but not completely. Some minor providers don't carry TWC, although some had dropped it and later come to an agreement.
Local Accuweather is carried in many places. In fact it is the origin of the Accuweather Network that Verizon is carrying. Frontier FIOS also carries it.

Verizon made a huge mistake by removing The Weather Channel and Weatherscan. AccuWeather is awful and that widget is useless. Whoever made this decision should be fired. Shame on you Verizon - but it goes along with the consistently bad customer service. We can only hope Frontier will be better and bring back TWC.

Exactly - great timing on notifying custromers too. Turn on the tv today and update occurs and the message indicated that TWC and Weatherscane is gone.
WOW - thanks.
Nothing against Accuwether.......but it is not showing local weather in our region. WHich is worthless.
A year ago Verizon FIOS eliminates the other local live weather radar...and now the Weather Channel and Weatherscan is gone.
I am so tired of channels just disappearing left and right OR VZFIOS deciding that certain channels will be only available on certain packages even after you have a package and they were originally available/offered without proper notice.
Well, I have less than 1 year left on this contract - I am definately not renewing or continuing after that even after 8 years.
This is getting old real fast......

Well, I was on the fence whether I would be taking Verizon with me when I moved to a new home this summer. The equipment is crap and the service even worse, but I enjoyed having access to a variety of TV channels. This is makes it an easy decision to walk away. They claim that more people are going to apps and the Internet, but it seems to me that they are doing their best to drive customers away...

My sentiment exactly . . .This is it for FIOS . . .hello Time Warner when my contract expires.
Not sure if Verizon looks at this message board . . .if you are, terible decision. It's all about your pocketbook, not your valued customers!!! There is no comparison between this so called AccuWeather Network and the Weather Channel.....very disappointed!!!

I just can not believe that Verizon woukd make such a foolish mistake in dropping the Weather Channel,
It is a program that we enjoy watching daily.
Hopefully they will come to their senses, Listen to their customers requests and add it back to their menu.

I agree with Richjim3. I cannot believe that Verizon dropped The Weather Channel. It's not only the Weather Channel, but all the other great programs that we will no longer be able to watch. AccuWeather is nothing in comparison to TWC! You're talking soups and nuts. This is very disappointing to go check the weather and a foreign program shows up. I'm disappointed at their move and can't state enough how this move is bad for Verizon but also for us, Verizon members. All The Weather Channel and the programs will be sorely missed. I don't know how or who deals with the other programs on that channel but ALL THOSE PROGRAMS WILL BE MISSED. Especially now as Spring is coming and storms will be brewing and TWC is depended upon. Upset, upset, upset is all I can say!!!

I, unfortunately, discovered that Weather Channel & Weather Scan had been removed. I was so shocked to see that. I didn't think any provider would be stupid enough to do that. I actually prefer Weather Scan to Weather Channel. Weather Scan has radar on screen 24 hrs/day, no commercials, no people talking, no other programming. It just shows the radar, the present conditions, details of the next 48 hours, and the 7 day forecast. For almost a year now, I've been having EXTREME water problems due to rain. There is a problem in my neighbor's yard that when it rains, I get a river of water coming over my back & side walls, flooding my yard & the property next door. The heavier the rain, the higher the chances are of my basement flooding. When rain is called for & I am going out for a while, I first checked Weather Scan to see how heavy the rain is. A number of times I have stayed home to keep check on my basement and to bail the water out. AccuWeather is terrible. I watched it for 15 min this am & saw info for cities in NY, Tx & Fl & then gave up & it doesn't have a non-stop radar. Weather Bug is now taken Weather Scan's place. Once you tune to that channel, you then ahve to press the FIOS TV button to bring up ifo. It's just basics. No radar. Definitely whoever made that bad call should be fired. There are a lot of unimportant channels on Verizon - why not get rid of them & bring back Weather Scan at least? Or find some other kind of weather channel that does the same thing as Weather Scan? I saw a suggestion that NBC owns those weather channels. So waht? We get other NBC channels.

i also can't believe this decision.. The weather channel is the best coverage there is. This channel also carries other content that provides learning and discoverying other ways of life that people are living. This is a reason to think about moving off FIOS.

Shame on you Verizon for putting profits over common sense. Bring back the Weather Channel. It is storm season and your subscribers should have access to local radar 24/7. By the way, that widget thing is a joke.

Please get your facts straight. Comcast is part of NBC. NBC owns part of The Weather Channel. Comcast will not drop The Weather Channel.

Hate to tell ya, SinCara, but DISH just renewed their deal with The Weather Channel. It was a multi-year deal too, from the looks of it. That means just about every major cable provider (Comcast, Cox, DirecTV, DISH, Frontier & Time Warner, just to name some of them) now has some sort of agreement with The Weather Channel. The only one who doesn't is Verizon. Now I know you read these posts, Verizon, so it's time to listen get The Weather Channel back on FiOS TV. 🙂
