I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !
Instead of just compaining here (does Verizon really listen, or are we just "preaching to the choir"?) Contact the FCC. Ask them to make TWC a mandatory carry (like the "regular networks"). Go to fcc.gov Under THE FCC, go to "Contact Us" There you will find the email for the FCC Chairman. Send him an email. Be polite. Be nice. Don't bash Verizon, the FCC or anyone else. Explain why you think TWC is an essential service. If enough people contact him (I already did) it will get noticed.

I like watching the Weather Channel before I go to work, before I go to bed and anytime I need to know. The change to Accuweather sucks! They don't have the local weather showing like the Weather Channel, you have to watch for 15-30 minutes before your local area comes up. It sucks!!! Bring back the Weather Channel it's the best for many reasons but just to see my local forcast anytime I tune in is the biggest reason of all.
Dear Verizon,
You have breeched the spirit of the contract by allowing TWC to expire. This is unacceptable. The AccuWeather channel and weather widget are poor, insufficient substitutes. I used TWC and weatherscan channel every day.
TWC provides unmatched coverage in times of crisis and natural diaster. How can you justify dropping this resource? There are hundreds of chanels of useless programming clogging my TV, and you drop TWC. Unbelieveable.
Did you ever take a poll or solicit feedback before you made this decision?
What are you goin to do for your customers to remedy this. Will I see a decrease in my bill?

I totally agree. The Accu Weather channel is a poor subsitute for TWC. In fact, I find it useless. Bring back TWC, please.
I and my family arein total agreement with your comments. We referred to TWC several times a day at the minimum. This is very upsetting to us, especially with the Spring storm season arriving. Must have been a Verizon "Executive Decision"!?!? Bad Form

I also just renewed my contract. I am very disappointed that you have decided that the weather channel is useless to us. During all the storms that we had over the winter, the weather channel and weather scan was on most of the time. You people seem to think that customers don't watch those channels anymore. Not everybody has smart phones and want to waste their battery trying to info about the weather on their phones. Bring back the WEATHER CHANNEL, you have made a BIG MISTAKE. Accuweather and weather bug are HORRIBLE AND I DON'T EVEN WATCH THOSE CHANNELS AND HAVE REMOVED THEM FROM MY FAVORITES. Now I have to wait for the news at noon, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm. NOT VERY GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Unfortunately our FIOS contract runs for another 13 months. If Comcast has Weatherscan and Verizon has not corrected its egregious error in canceling the channel, we will be returning to Comcast. Obviously, Verizon executives do not live lives like their customers. Of all the channels offered by FIOS, Weatherscan is the one we use most often. We don't watch hours on end. We turned to it before going outside. It was invaluable to us this winter with string after string of snow storms and bouts of very cold weather. We've tried ACCU-weather and it may get better. The Weatherbug widget is clearly a cruel joke. Setting up the widget is not difficult but is far from easy. Getting to it while watching TV is excruciating and the information provides no weather radar, wind chil, etc. Turning on the TV and going to Channel 49, now that's easy. The notification to customers spoke volumes about Verizon's monopolistic practices. What idiot thought it was a good idea to send an email at 2 AM and that constituted good customer service?
I turned on Accuweather thinking there is no way it's as bad as the posts that I read are saying... IT IS AS BAD AS THEY SAY. What an absolute waste of time. I don't care that it is currently 69 degrees in Boston, MA or that "It is a beautiful day in Boston". What I want to know is where is Jim Cantore and what tornado is he chasing? Bring back the REAL Weather Channel and get this bush league stuff off the air.

Don't care about the weather channel one way or the other, but with or without them we need an accurate, local full screen weather radar, just for the safety of the community. If you can't get along with Weather .com why not try one of the local TV stations, or NOAA weather, anything that will let us see which way these storms are coming from and how fast.

Seriously, you're complaining about a weather report on a weather channel. Did you complain about "American Super Natural," "Highway Thru Hell," or "Fat Guys in the Woods?" TWC has't been reporting the actual weather for a long time. I, for one, do not miss it's steady diet of third rate reality TV shows. I haven't noticed it's gone except for the posts here. I can get all the real time weather info I want on my computer or mobile device.
That said, if you really feel strongly about Verizon dropping TWC, the best message you can send Verizon is to cancel your service and tell them why. Complaints here or on other social media sites will likely have zero impact on Verizon's decision to drop TWC. Money talks.

On Saturday May 8th I wil be going back to Time Warner Cable of NYC. I should have never switched to Verizon Fios. They do not listen to their customers. Everyone should go back to their previous providers. I will have the Weather Channel which is more important than AXS which I will be losing because TWC does not carry this channel. I will not go back to Verizon Fios no matter how good a deal they give me.
I switched back to Time Warner Cable NYC on Sat May 9th. Correction from my previous post. I did not know how much I missed the Weather Channel. As soon as my service was connected, I tuned to the Weather Channel. I had it on the rest of the day.
Everyone waiting for the Weather Channel to return should not wait. Go back to your previous provider. Verizon has ceased negotiations with the Weather Channel according to the Weather Channel. Go to http://www.gettheweatherchannel.tv to see for yourself. By the way the Weather Channel On Time Warner Cable NYC is in HD with the real local on the 8's.
I am very upset that they took off TWC. This Accuweather is terrible for me. I don't have 20 minutes time to stand in front of the TV to wait for my city and state to come up. Besides they removed Channel 49 where you can get the widget and find out your local weather. This is all that I need. Thank you very much. I have to go through local channels to find out about the weather and in DE it is mostly all Philly weather and since it is close to us, I have to add or subtract a few degrees, etc. To me the Accuweather is a waste of time and money. Please return TWC please.
You can get the same thing that was on 49 to launch widget by hitting the widget button, scrolling to weather widget and hitting ok.
The widget is not the Weather Channel, it's the weatherbug which is useless.

Was responding to comments that widget had been taken away from Ch 49. Just saying how you still had access to the widget, just a little differently.
