I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I strongly agree. AccuWeather pales in comparison to The Weather Channel. Verzon should bring back The Weather Channel on FIOS. AccuWeather is worthless for weather-related news and not worth watching.

Well here we are at the beginning of thunderstorm/tornato season in New England, and tonight, as a severe line of thunderstorms was heading my way, I tuned in what use to be The Weather Channel, where I could follow the radar progress, and county warnings would run across the bottom of the screen. But instead I get Accu-Weather, without a trace of local warnings. I can't tell you how disappointed and **bleep**-off I am that Verizon still has not come to an agreement with The Weather Channel. Accu-Weather, in a word SUCKS. I would even be willing to pay a fee to get it back.
**bleep** Verizon, doesn't cutomer opinion count for anything?

The one burning question I have for FiOS cosmic control is this: How big of a kickback were you paid to drop The Weather Channel, anyway? I bet the IRS would be VERY interested in talking to you...
To those of you out there who tell me if I don't like it, switch providers: Easier said than done. I'm locked in a contract for another year, so that means early termination fees. So I'll tell you what: YOU pay all my costs (Termination fees, cost of returning equipment, installation costs with another provider, equipment costs, and initial month's bill), and I'll consider making the switch. I'd sure love how you think I'm made of money to be able to do all of that, so as I said, pay my way to switch, and I will!

The weather channel now serving the Washington DC area is completely useless. The information quickly moves from one city to another with virtually nothing that can provide information for planning. The graphics are slick and, no doubt, technically correct, but much too broadly. Adding a local weather channel would be helpful and appreciated by the customers who for years did have access to a local weather channel by The Weather Channel.

Accu Weather just sucks. Plain and simple. I can't get my local weather. Why did you drop the Weather Channel. I also miss the companion channel on SD49 which gave my local weather 24/7. Thank you Verizon for making it easier to cut the cord when my contact ends in December.

I am very unhappy that you took the weather channels offf. I did not like your new local weather on 49, and now I cannot even get that. To the surprise of some of your higher ups, we do not all have smart phones!

I want the Weather Channel back. Accuweather sucks!
I live in Florida in a very hurricane active area. Accuweather has nothing to guide me or keep me up to date on what is happening in the tropics. This is crazy...I need the weather channel. With tropical storm Bill it has made me all that more aware of this need. I wanted to complain directly to Verizon, but there seems to be no way to do that on the Verizon site other than these forums, which probably no one at corporate even reads or cares about,
Give us back the Weather Channel.

By the way, folks, with Verizon's logic, NBC will likely be next since they're also owned by Comcast. Get ready to lose a HUGE major TV network, folks, because that what I think is gonna happen next. Verizon's not gonna admit they're wrong, so they're gonna compund it with ANOTHER wrong. Just you watch & see. If they had brain one in their heads, like I HOPE they do, The Weather Channel would be brought back, but that makes far too much sense. Hopefully in 11 months when my contract is up, I'll have the money put together to switch providers, but we'll see.

I don't watch a lot of TV since there isn't anything worth watching, in my opinion. I'm not interested in reality shows, sitcoms, soap operas, horror, sports, junk news, or home shopping. However, one of the few stations I DID watch was the Weather Channel. I depended on it for regular forecasts, emergency weather bulletins, and natural disaster reporting.
As a librarian in a public library, I use weather.com (the Weather Channel's website) to answer patron's questions. Verizon has stated that people don't need the Weather Channel anymore because they get their information from the Internet. If that is the case, why do so many people call my library asking for the forecast? It's because there is a whole segment of the population that does not have a computer, email and/or the Internet.
Verizon insisting that people no longer need or want the Weather Channel is like the ignorant and short-sighted people who tell me that libraries are becoming extinct. Those people are out of touch with the reality that I see and experience every day at work: there are many people in our society who do not have e-readers, computers, or smart phones, either because they choose not to, can't understand technology, or can't afford them. However, many of those same people have a television and rely on it.
I am lucky that I can afford a computer and smart phone. I know how to use them and surf the web for information successfully. But I also want to get information and entertainment from TV. I want to see hurricane footage on a big screen, not on a tiny smart phone or computer screen.
Compared to the Weather Channel, Accuweather is a joke. If Verizon's customers do not need the Weather Channel, then they certainly don't need a substandard and pathetic imitation of it.
I had been waiting for my ancient smart phone to break for years. My AT&T contract had expired and I had decided to try Verizon Wireless next. Verizon dropped the Weather Channel right before I finally needed a new phone, so I changed my mind and stayed with AT&T.
Since Verizon dropped the Weather Channel, like many people, I feel stuck with a cable service that no longer meets my needs. I have been waiting impatiently for Verizon to come to its senses and reinstate the Weather Channel. However, I will not wait forever.
I had to call Verizon a few weeks ago about a problem and the Verizon employee told me that they were still negotiating with the Weather Channel. I would like to think that he was not lying to me, but the letter I had gotten earlier in the mail about Verizon's decision to drop the Weather Channel had stated that this was a done deal.
Don't force me to leave. Prove to your customers that you do listen to what they want and need. Prove to us that you are not ignorant and short-sighted.

All I can say, is thank goodness that my family has a different service that offer The Weather Channel, otherwise I never would have known of the TORNADO that touched down in my area.... Thanks Verizon, for putting your own egos ahead of the safety and satisfaction of your customers.

I want the Weather Channel BACK!!!! Not everyone uses their phones or computers to access the weather, that is a rediculous statement made by Verizon. Customers like myself pay up to $300 per month, the least thing you could do is get The Weather Channel back... Just renegotiate the deal and get it done and don't give excuses that it's for the benefit of the customer, as you can see your customers WANT the channel! AccuWeather is a joke. We are expecting horrific thunderstorms right now with gusts up to 70mph in Northern NJ and AccuWeather is talking about the beautiful weather in Los Angeles... Really??? AccuWeather is a joke!

Adding my dislike of AccuWeather!
Verizon, you should be ashamed of this debacle. So many people dislike what you did regarding the Weather Channel. At least, the initial replacement, Weather Nation, was OK. AccuWeather is just plan bad. I have yet to see ANY tropical weather reports on AccuWeather. There is no good local weather/radar scan.
If your pride is too much to bear and you will not go back to The Weather Channel, then please replace AccuWeather with a better weather channel solution, such as Weather Nation.

AccuWeather is AWEFUL!!! The stories are beyond bad & their "local weather" is bad. For this reason alone I am seriously considering switching to Comcast as my contract has expired. Please bring back the Weather Channel.

When I called to complain about losing the Weather Channel I was told no one watches TV weather any more, they get it from their smart phones. Although I know many people who don't have smart phones
The question I have is why do the local tv stations still broadcast the weather many times a day? Aren't they wasting air time if no one is watching it
OR could it be that FIOS just is money hungry and doesn't want to pay for the weather channel? Now we are facing a hurricane and you can hardly hear anything about it on Accuweather.
I may not be a power user, only paying $220 a month for FIOS with the top speed internet, but when I my contract is up I am switching to Comcast! My neighbor has already started the process.
Also if Comcast will pay my termination fee I would move next week!
