I hate AccuWeather.......how come customers did not have a choice or a vote to keep The Weather Channel???? AccuWeather stinks, there are no REAL stories nor do the show any weather people out in the field......this is the worst, I watch the weather channel everyday. I might just think about changing my service to someone who has The Weather Channel!!! I hate this.....ugh !

I was saying the same thing. It's times like Matthew you need the Weather channel . The thing I can not believe is this is the hottest topic in the forums about the Weather Channel and Verizon is blind to what it's customers want. I am a weather junkie. Accuweather can be seen on my local newscast. The accuweather channel literally sucks. When my contract is up with Verizon, the Weather Channel is a game changer. Bring it back !

How much do you watch it outside of special events like Matthew? Isn't it mainly non weather shows in the evenings? Subscriber numbers for twc are falling by more than just Verizon dropping them.
I (and others have said as well) never watched twc before it was dropped. I hit the internet or phone apps if I needed it.
That is why Verizon dropped them. Their number showed declining viewer ship and decided it was no longer worth the cost.

As you may know Time Warner Cable was sold to Charter. Because I am an existing Time Warner customer switching to Charter costs more than being a new customer.
If Fios would get the Weather channel back I would switch back immeadiately. In the previous mail the person said that the Weather Channel was dropped because their ratings decreased. The weather channel was dropped because they had Accuweather in their pocket. Verizon is financing them, If this was not the case they would have kept the Weather Channel. Put the Weather Channel up against Accuweather and see who gets thre most viewers.

Cougar126, I agree with you Accuweather really stinks! You really see then difference during storm events.... I'm also thinking of removing all my services from Verizon, which is close to $400. Cable & internet to Comcast and Mobile to AT&T. Maybe if Comcast buys Verizon we'll get the Weather Channel back :-)..... since Comcast recently is offering Mobile Service on the back of Verizon's network, it might be a possibility. Let's hope!

Question. Why can't we pay for TWC? How about $10.00 a month?
I dumped Time Warner Cable because of their ever-rising rates, but my wife and I really enjoyed TWC. Ridiculous I pay for numerous channels i do not want, but cannot pay for the The Weather Channel. Maybe its time go to back to my previous provider.

I am very seriously thinking about going back to Time Warner( now Spectrum). Every time I call customer service or go on live chat they say that Accuweather is the same as The Weather Channel. No one can give a straight answer as to if they are negotiating to return the Weather Channel to Fios. I checked out Spectrum prices and they are cheaper than Fios. I know there will be some Fios customers that will say Fios is better. It is not better. When I call Spectrum customer service I am talking with a representative within 5 minutes. Fios is sometimes a 30 minute or longer wait. Someone will say they do not care about The Weather Channel. That is okay for them. I care about The Weather Channel.

I agree completely.
However in a few minutes you will see the same person chime in and say that no one cares. He'll say forget it. It's too bad that the most visible topic on these entire forums is continuously being squashed.

Something to consider when comparing prices:
Watch for new customer pricing vs current customer pricing.
Most providers offer new customer teaser rates. And when they expire, they will go up.
Some people are willing to play the game switching back and forth chasing the cheapest rates.

The price for Spectrum lasts for 3 years without a contract.

Got our hopes up, but TWO is. NOT on Fios. Still just the lousy Accuweather. Did a search to try to find TWC, but it wasn't there.

It's been a few months since I last posted in this thread, so I thought I'd try another futile attempt to get Verizon to bring back The Weather Channel. Verizon made its business decision and I respect that. I disagree with it, but it's their decision to make as a company. When my contract is up, I'll voice my displeasure by taking my business elsewhere.

I don't understand what the big deal is. I can get my weather forecast on at least a dozen other channels on tv. I can get my forecast on the radio. i can get my forecast on my computer and tablet. So many places to get the weather.

You're really lucky to have 12 different weather stations on your Verizon TV service! Those of us in Virginia with FiOS lost the only reliable weather service we had when they cancelled Weatherscan/The Weather Channel and replaced them with the utterly useless Accu-weather. We're lucky if we happen to see our local weather and radar at all . . . sometimes we have to wait 30 minutes to see it, if at all. Otherwise, the only radar we can see is a static radar picture that is not current. We checked once when there were storms in our area; Accu-weather's picture showed the rain still well northwest of us, even while it was pouring outside. Also, not everyone has smart phones and/or computers. We don't miss TWC, but their Weatherscan radar was really great, and we used it several times a day.

So I am in VHO4. We just got the local version of Accuweather.
Local cities scroll across the bottom.
And get periodic radar updates (haven't watched long enough to know if it is local on the X yet).

Don't know what that VH04 channel is. Just checked Accuweather on VZ119 and 619, and they're giving the weather for every city in Maryland (I'm in Virginia). The local and extended forecasts for those cities are at the bottom, but they never went to my area of Virginia. Weatherscan was so great . . . you could turn on Channel 49 and immediately see the local radar so you knew if a storm was coming. Accuweather doesn't offer that. Don't miss TWC, but we really miss Weatherscan!

VHO4 is a region of FIOS coverage.
VHO stands for Video Head Office.
So the DC Baltimore area are in VHO4.
Richmond area is VHO9.

I'm in the Newport News/Hampton/Norfolk area. What channel would that be on? Like I said, 119 and 619 have Accuweather, but I haven't seen my local area covered . . . just the entire state of Maryland. VHO doesn't tell us what channel carries the weather.
