Dear Valued Verizon Customer:
Verizon’s agreements to carry The Weather Channel and Weather Scan have expired, and have not been renewed. In today’s environment, customers are increasingly accessing weather information not only from their TV but from a variety of online sources and apps. Verizon is pleased to launch the new AccuWeather Network, which will be available on FiOS TV on channel 119/619 (HD) and on our free FiOS Mobile App starting March 10, 2015. Verizon will also provide the FiOS TV WeatherBug “widget” application, which features hyper-local weather, on FiOS TV channel 49; WeatherBug can also be launched by pressing the “widget” button on the FiOS TV remote.
Thank you!
Your Verizon Team
Weather Channel contract not renewed due to this"
"It’s possible that Verizon will merely leverage this into reacquiring The Weather Channel at a price it deems more reasonable. Last year, DirecTV dropped The Weather Channel for similar reasons, saying that it was broadcasting too much reality television in lieu of actual weather reporting. Indeed, in recent years, even The Weather Channel has fallen victim to the indistinguishable swamp of American cable television, offering a slew of reality programming that you might not be able to differentiate from the shows on any number of other cable channels. After acknowledging that its programming needed to be more weather-focused, The Weather Channel agreed on a new deal with DirecTV...."

I'm SO mad at Verizon for losing The Weather Channel. I live in the Metro Tampa area and good weather service is vital to us during hurricane season ! Pay-up and bring back The Weather Channel, or I, along with my neighbors will cancel our Verizon service ! After reading my agreement, this is totally in violation and might be open to lawsuits ! At least Brighthouse cares about their customers !!

This {word filter avoidance},
accuweather is useless.
Bring back the real and only Weather Channel.
Verizon claims to care about their "community" yet they continunally show they only care about making a dollar.
Verizon is not the only game in town.
it is time to move onl

It was reported by news agencies that VERIZON sent an email to each subscriber. More front office **bleep**!
Verizon is cheaping out. I don't use my phone for weather. How many people do? More front office **bleep**!
I'm sure a meeting of 26 year old middle managers of programming decided this.
Not all of us have the iPhone umbilical cord attached.

Removing "The Weather Channel" is a horrible decision. The information provided on that station is invaluable, particularly during hurricane season and severe storm events. The content of the replacement programing is ludicrous and totally useless! I am profoundly disappointed and will begin searaching for an alternative provider but certainly hope Verizon reconsiders.

Like everyone else here I am very unhappy about them dropping TWC with no notice at all. This is one of the three primary channels I watch and now it is gone without any notice.
I am seriously considering dropping TV completely and daring them to charge me an ETF. The package I paid for included TWC and it was one of the main reason I got TV. for them to drop it like this is not right on so many levels.

FIOS without The Weather Channel is nowhere near worth what I pay for the service. Until now I have been happy with the service but this boneheaded move signals it's time to explore other options.

I am disgusted that The Weather Channel has been replaced by Accuweather. This is not an acceptable substitution. I watched a few minutes of Accuweather and found that the pixelation was all messed up, the sound cut in and out, and the content was no better than what used to be on the WeatherBug channel. I viewed The Weather Channel as one of the core channels and was relied upon for comprehensive severe weather updates. Don't want to hear the blame game about whether it is Verizon's fault or the Weather Channel's fault. FIX IT!

Dont complain just call up and tell them if the weather channel doesnt come back you are cancelling, actions speak louder than words! If they want to take away a channel take away that stupid fios 1 news done by children with cell phone video! I just renewed my contract with a great deal but ill drop the whole thing, they have voided the contract by removing one of the top 5 watched cable channels because of greed!

I agree with many of you. Accuweather is the WORST. It has been rated the lowest accuracy. I am very very disappointed in Verizon. And when my contract is up, I will consider alternatives.
Very unfortunate.

WEATHER BUG IS WORTHLESS!!! IT NEVER HAS THE ACCURATE WEATHER FOR MY AREA. GET RID OF WEATHER BUG WIDGET AND PUT THE WEATHER CHANNEL WIDGET BACK ON!
THERE IS A REASON WHY WE PAY PREMIUM RATES EACH MONTH TO VERIZON SO WE CAN HAVE THE CHOICES WE WANT AND PAID FOR.
ALOT OF US ARE RETIRED AND OR DISABLED AND DEPEND ON THE WEATHER CHANNEL WIDGET FOR UPDATES AND WEATHER WARNINGS REGARDING HURRICANES AND STORM CONDITIONS.
IT'S AN EASY FIX GET RID OF WEATHERBUG WIDGET AND REPLACE THE WEATHER CHANNEL WIDGET BACK!

In January, I just switched to FIOS triple play because the INTERNET SERVICE IS better than Brighthouse.
I am sorely dissappointed that the Weather Channel is gone.
ACCU Weather is not the weather I need for my personal or business use.
If the Weather Channel contract is not renewed promptly, I will be promptly canceling Verizon TV.
As with all businesses, Verizon needs to understand that customers always have the right to vote with their feet and leave.
I may have to pay more for separately packaged services, but I will, if it means having the service I want.
One wonders if the Verizon finance division has calculated how much it costs them to start a new customer and how many will be lost if the Weather Channel does not return.
Perhaps this is the reason that I did not choose a 2 year contract when I made this switch. The Lord always knows what is coming ahead for us...and I can now see it was Him who prompted me not to sign up for the big cash Visa card and a 2-year contract.

The sudden dropping of The Weather Channel was a really bad move. I understand that you have costs to keep down and what have you, but I think that because I pay you close to $200 a month in services, that I should have a say in what channels are kept and what channels are not. I know there are other people out there who pay more than me, but still, we are customers, and we should have a right to not only know ahead of time when our favorite channels are dropped, but to have a say in whether they should be dropped or not.
I can also tell you that you just tripled my Accuweather channels because I already got them as a part of the over the air HD channels (464 in Philadelphia area, which is a digital over the air channel for WFMZ) and even when it was just the single channel over the air, I did not watch Accuweather because of the fact that they are not as knowledgable as the Weather Channel and they tend to run as a loop over having live programming, and when I usually tune into a weather network, I'm looking for something more than what Accuweather offers, and definitely more than what local news stations offer, which is why I liked The Weather Channel and Weatherscan, and personally, I am rather upset with this decision.
And honestly, I know there are other alternatives to Accuweather and Weatherbug, which personally, I would never install because Weatherbug is full of malware and spyware, not to mention that their information is so off, I'd be better off trusting the National Enquirer for my weather, because that's all both of them are.
