A number of channels will not allow us to watch live tv through the Fios TV app. Several channels have the following error message: “This channel is only available to watch live when connected to your Fios Wi-Fi router”. We are at home on our home network. Channels with this problem include CBS, WETA, Telemundo, MPT, WGN, ABC.
Help would be appreciated. Tech support chat through Twitter claims streaming live tv is only available with enhanced DVR service. We don’t think this is correct.

For the past month or so every time I try to watch live TV on my iPad or phone using the VerizonTV app, it says that I am out of home and do not have access to saved DVR programs or most of the TV channels for live streaming. I have followed all of the suggestions on the knowledge based topics and none of them have worked. I opened a ticket about three weeks ago and got a response from Verizon that said there was a problem with my backend WAN IP address and that they were escalating it to their network ream. After two weeks I sent them a response email asking if there had been any progress, but I haven’t heard back. I sent another follow up email a few days ago and got a vague response about waiting for an update for the app. There hasn’t been an update for about a month. Has anyone else had this problem? And has anyone else found a solution?

Brinismom,
Regarding the app service you are paying for that is not working properly: Some would rather you take any frustrating experiences back to the closed-doors of the maddening maze of customer support bureacracy, That may be because the TV app, newly refreshed last spring, is embarrasingly plagued with this and other chronic glitches. Your problem is a recurring problem without an easy solution that continues to plague Verizon fios customers. So please continue to post here on your progress since it might inform/assist 1) any Verizon techie honchos should they dare lurk here, as well as 2) other customers who have been similarly failed by customer support.

I had the problem a while back.
Rebooting my router and VMS seems to have cleared it.
Have you tried that?

I had this same problem. My issue is I turn off the FIOS Router Wifi and use an EERO. Basically, what I see is the Fios App MUST be connected to the FIOS Router for you to get ALL channels.
I went into my Fios Router, and turned the wifi on and created a Test SSID...and once I conected my IPAD to that new SSID, all the channels and the DVR worked.
So, they need to fix the FiosTV app to support people using other wireless routers on their home network as theirs is not that good.

I had the same problem. None of the other post corrected my problem. I did find a solution. In the app settings. My app was not connected to my set top box named great room.
Go to settings on your IOS device and type in FiOS tv. Turn on local network, under, FiOS TV to access. Once I switched on local net work, all my TV channels showed on my device!

Even if your home connected to your FIOS router you can’t watch local stations. Not sure why local stations are against that or are they trying to reduce viewership
