Update for FiOS Mobile App

I'm starting a new thread because the ones from earlier this year are long dead.

An update to the FiOS Mobile Android app was just released to the Google Play Store.  It corrects the problem with special characters in passwords and device information and now processes sign in correctly, an issue that impacted many people.

Content has been added to the app, including some actual on-demand for channels that was not there before.  Also, for those lucky people in some parts of the east coast, select live local channels are available if you are a FiOS customer based in certain locations: NYC, NJ, Philadelphia, DC. But a biggie for all seems to be that live streaming TV channels both in and out of your FiOS home is now available.  The remote control functions still work well.  Steaming performance seems quicker to load and is stable (so far as I could check).

I've been playing with the app and all seems to work, although I'm left out of seeing live local channel streaming since I live in the Southern California market and I haven't gone to another WiFi network to see if the streaming outside of the home works.

So the app is an incremental improvement, but it still doesn't match what the competition is doing relative to streaming video.  And those of us on the West Coast, Texas, upstate New York, areas of PA, etc. are left out big time since there are no local channels in the streaming choices.

I understand the app will be available for the Kindle people shortly, and that the IOS version was supposed to be updated too.  I don't have either, so I can't confirm.

I've been told that IOS and Kindle FiOS Mobile apps have also been released:

Android devices, download here

iOS devices, download here

Amazon Kindle Fire, download here

Here is the Verizon press release on the app.

I hope someone from Verizon sees this or if someone with an IPHONE can explain it to me:

Currently on my IPHONE I have four different Apps for management of my FIOS Services:

1.  FIOS Mobile Remote.  Gives me TV listings (cannot choose Live TV), DVR, Remote Control of TV

2.  Media Manager

3. My FIOS - Access to my account, my bill, email, support, phone logs, voicemail, TV lisitngs, DVR, Remote Control, On-demand Home Control

4. Fios Mobile - Live TV, DVR, TV Listing (cannot select LIVE TV), on-demand

So each app does its own thing but overlaps another app.  How about making one app that does it all.  Is that in the works?

The functionality of the FiOS Mobile Remote app is now in the FiOS Mobile app, and (at least for Android) the old FiOS Mobile Remote app is gone.  When launched, the old version directs over to the new FiOS Mobile app.

There are now no overlaps on Android, except for one. The TV stuff that used to be in the My FiOS app is gone and is now only in the FiOS Mobile app.  The Verizon Media Manager app will be going away, which the "last" overlap.

Making one app to "do it all" would mean a very large app that would be hard to maintain.  Things appear to be consolidating.
