Why can't I get Verizon email using VZW today?
Phonequestions411

Have basic phone. Trying to get email through VZW  today.  mw2.vzwwap.com/email.... The link to the Verizon email will not work.  The link to Yahoo email works fine. This link doesn't work--wapp.verizon.net/portal/wapmail/LoginWap.aspx?carrier=vzw

Verizon wireless said to contact Verizon Fios. Fios has told me it's a wireless website problem. Who can I contact to get help with this problem? The Yahoo email works fine from VZW Today, but the Verizon email link redirects to Verizon.com and eventually prompts to download the Fios app, which cant be done on a basic phone.

Verizon.net email support is no longer supported for 'feature' phones.

However, you might find the workaround useful:

Mobile Email App Shutdown - Email Alternatives

[General Information]

The Mobile Email app for Media Center/Get it Now on basic phones was retired on 3/31/15. If you have one of these phones, you'll no longer be able to send and receive emails using the Mobile Email app. However, there are alternatives for sending and receiving emails on your basic phone.

Email Alternative — Basic phones (Media Center/Get it Now)

Gmail™ (possibly other email services)

To access your Gmail account through the web browser:

  1. From the main screen, select Menu using the center navigation key.

  2. Select Media Center or Get It Now.

  3. Select Mobile Web.

  4. Select Menu, and then Go to URL.

Note: You need to select Search if your device doesn't have "Menu."

  5. Enter m.gmail.com.

  6. Select GO.

  7. Follow the instructions on the page to sign in to your Gmail account.

The VZW Today page is the 2nd method listed in the workaround instructions.  (The first section is for gmail and the 2nd section in the instructions is for using VZW Today.)

VZW Today (mw2.vzwwap.com/email) works fine for Yahoo, but not for Verizon.net. (There are 4 email options in VZW Today--Yahoo, Verizon, Microsoft and AOL.)  The Yahoo link brings you to a page where you can login with a username and password. The Verizon link should work the same way, but wapp.verizon.net/portal/wapmail/LoginWap.aspx?carrier=vzw doesn't bring you to a login page.

Can someone advise who I should contact at Verizon to ask about this?  Verizon Wireless claims it's a website issue that Verizon Fios handles, but Fios said they didn't distribute these workaround instructions, so they are redirecting back to Verizon Wireless.

I think they are basically saying that basic feature phones are no longer supported.  You might ask Verizon if there is a way to forward those emails to an alternate email account, or change email accounts all together.  One line left out from the above is that customers can either try these above methods or buy a new smartphone and plan that will allow email from phone since basic phones are no longer supported.
