55+ loyality very low priority, poor service

At my employer anyone with this plan has no service. Being a highly congested area I’m guessing a more expensive plan will get better service however basic plans with other carriers get perfect coverage. What is Verizon’s reasoning for doing this to loyal customers who are required to pay full price for upgrading phones? My phone upgrades have never been less then $1k.
